My CCCXI not entries

Ok, so here's the scoop. I got rather excited by the contest, as its been about 8 years since I built anything other than small sets and some mech warriors, a few cool figs. Not a dark age as such, more of a dimly lit one.

My Idea was to make a separate entry for each one and a grand finale of all of them going together to make a grand display that all connected. Modular, each theme contest represented, etc. And it was looking all right too. not bad though I feel a bit rusty.

Well, my local non affiliate Lego store called the Brick Hutt was part of a toy show that was literally at the end of my street, and they had a contest for advanced builders. I wouldn't say I am advanced, but I am not bad either I think. So I decided I would go ahead and concentrate on that instead, because as I progressed I got a little lost in building, and forgot what the categories were.

I was told there was a size limit so I didn't even finish or include parts like "an invention gone wrong (was going to do an auto gong farmer) or "the Bandits Hideout" (had a cave with a ruined tower over it)

I did however finish what I set out to do.

and I won first place.

why don't I enter anyway? well, the photo's I currently have are grainy and huge, so I will be taking new ones.... when I set it up down at the Lego store in the window. its currently there waiting space. I don't think the photos I have are all that good, and when it comes down to it, I was (and am) just thrilled to be building like a fiend again.

so without further ado, I give you the fantasy castle by the legofreak. - I will be taking better pictures and posting at some point, the floating wizards tower is held up only by its waterfall, and was probably the most photographed thing at the show. and I have some crappy pics of it. :D
also, if you look close in the last picture, you will see (THE) Henry coming home. :D

PS - the moose in one of the pictures who's touching the display when it CLEARLY says not too... is my son who is in another picture playing inside one of my castles when he was much much younger. And the little lady modeling how strong the base is by standing on it is my daughter - both chips off the old Lego block

Congrats! Fun story behind it! I normally don't comment to stuff on here but this was just too good to resist. I was grinning the whole time while reading your description. Building is great isn't it!

Great MOC! I like hoe the castle is built onto a platform of rocks. It looks great.
That fountain also is particularly nice.

Happy Building,
Sir Valiant~

Thank you guys, I really do hope to have some decent pictures soon.
I really do love building, and I have to say that while I've improved, over the years, there are some truly stellar builders here. I am just amazed at the talent kicking bricks and taking names! :o
maybe next year once I have shaken out the cobwebs... :D

Nicely done! I always enjoy a good castle, but a castle with a village, now that's good stuff. :)

1st place is first place...nice job! Sometimes the harshest critic can be ourselves...which can be the best motivator if done correctly. Yet, you have plenty of people here who can review your MOCs and give pointers if need be and others that like and are inspired by your MOCs just as they are.

Ok, here are a few more pictures, now that I have set it up in the store window where it will be on display. I am most pleased with the waterfall and the sideways windows of the mill, and the angles in the castle itself. Feel free to critique though. Have at it.
