LCC-GC6-Thenwell Castle

Postby soccerkid6 » Thu Jan 30, 2014 2:45 am

Built for Global Challenge VI in the Lands of Classic Castle. This is for the "Unrestricted" Category. My main goals for this build were: to experiment with using dark green 1x1 bricks for the landscape, using bley 1x2 grill bricks for texturing the castle walls, and to create a 'real' castle feel with the build. The castle is fairly simple, but I think it is the most realistic looking castle I've built yet. As always there is a full interior, this time accesible by a hinging wall.

Thenwell Castle is a small castle in southern Lenfald, and one of the few castles not currently under the "Queen's" control. Lord Thenwell has been amassing weapons and armor to be ready for the revolt. Pepin helps with the stockpiling.
Please be sure to check out more and larger pictures here: http://brickbuilt.org/2014/Thenwell-Castle.php

Nice work bud! I would have to agree with you that this is a very realistic castle. great job on the landscaping all around. I like the simple look of the build, the tiled interior is great, nice job! I'm loving that roof with the collectible mini-fig plates and also the cross shaped arrow slits. :) Nice inclusion of the grill bricks as well, they look good with this MOC!

Happy Building,

@digger1221: Thanks digger, this was a fun build :)

@mpoh98: Thanks Matthew, it's funny, this year my builds seem to be coming together with less effort, yet still look better than what I used to build :raiseone:

@Sir Valiant: Thanks! This is my first time using those cross shaped arrow slits as I only recently acquired the brick modified with stud necessary for the design :)

@Buurli: Thanks Simon! And you should build more castles, small ones are pretty easy/quick to do :)

@Sir Erathor: Thank you :)

Fantastic work Isaac! You've succeed extremely well in creating a "real" look to the castle. The Dark Green gives such a nice effect. :)

@Gavin of Lockwood: Thanks! I plan on trying some more Castle builds with a similar style :)

@Jackson Williams: Thank you, I'm glad you like the interior :)

@Justin M: Thanks Justin, I may try recreating a real castle in LEGO soon :eyebrows:

That looks fantastic! The dark green on the landscaping is a great contrast to the light bley, and makes the moc very pleasing to look at. I really like all those details on the castle, especially those arrow slits. Awesome work!

A beautiful, compact and effective castle Isaac. I like how clean it is, that you stayed away from medium green, and those grille bricks work surprisingly well.
