Siege Crossbow

Post by Ronin Dragonslayer »

Here's my new custom siege crossbow!

"Well, a longbow has range, a crossbow is good up close, and a recurve bow is great on horseback; but a siege crossbow does the job of all three. When it comes down to it - and a lot of times, it does - you need the stopping power to rip through armor. That's where the siege crossbow shines." - Caedric Moore, Captain of the Orevale Guard

Nice ,it looks great! :D NONPURIST! :twitch:  Sorry, I saw the glue, and as I am a purist (in terms that I don't customize except for some rare decals and using 3rd party accessories). But looks nice!

Thanks, man! Trust me; I tried for two hours to make a purist version but everything looked too clunky so... :tasty: If someone wanted to pass this design along to a third party, well, that'd be just fine :eyebrows: Thanks again!

I'm going to be honest, I really like this but I think it is slightly large. I feel like it is the longbow making me think this way. However, based upon the size of the stock, I think a regular bow might look odd on the gun. I wish TLG or one of our 3rd party producers would seriously consider making something of the sort.

How did you make this? It looks like you cut the end of the barrel off, then cut the top half of the remaining off, then superglued the longbow. Is there any truth to this?

I personally might have tried a regular bow, but with the length of the barrel, I am unsure how it would look. Either way, this is absolutely fantastic. I really commend you on this, that is a formidable weapon. Will you be tinkering with other designs? I really hope so. If so, I will follow your project with great enthusiasm! I hope to see something similar to this in the future for purchase.

Very nice customization well done.

Shouldn't this be in the customs forum?

Thanks, man! I tried a few different design ideas - all purist, at first - with varying sizes and colors of bows; I even tried using the original crossbow and mounting it but nothing looked right/strong enough. As Adam(Rifirofi) called it, it's the "Elephant Hunter 2000"

Pretty close :D I used a razor to cut off the barrel end (need to be careful not to use too much pressure to keep them round) then cut off the firing pin section and then a tiny bead of hot glue

Thanks again! With the war looming on the horizon, I thought I might do a few more war machines, weapons, etc. Glad you like it!

Hey Ronin,

After looking at this further (I REALLY like your work here on the crossbow), I may make a couple and post the results here. That thing looks sick (compliment), and I would love to have one of my own.

One drop of hotglue was all you used, correct?

Yep. You just get the gluegun good and hot then squeeze out a tiny drop and kind of pull the top of the gun-stock piece along the drop to make a "bead" of glue, then press this onto your bow - make sure to do it straight and fairly quickly. Too much glue and it will stand out; not enough glue and it won't stick well. Don't be afraid to mess up, either; the glue comes right off if you really want it to but will hold solid, too.

Thanks again, man! I'm very pleased with how it turned out, myself. Excited to see what you come up with! :D

Yes right under the MOCs forum you could PM the admins to move this over there.

Pretty good! But it looks a little bulky.

Thanks! It's not meant for maneuverability like the recurve bows Caedric normally employs; it's meant for war :eyebrows: Elephants, horses, armor-clad knights, trolls, etc. - anything large or armored that needs taken down. It's also great for range if you can't afford to miss a shot. Thanks again!
