The Silence of Death

Post by Sir Valiant »

Hey guys, this is a build for the Lands of Roawia, over on the Merlin's Beard LEGO forum. It carries a sad tone and what it is like after a war has been fought. Not all war is great glory and victory. Enjoy, the build!

Image

Description:

The battles had been fought, the victories won. Glory was showered upon conquering men and new heroes were crowned while old ones were laid to rest. War was a time of fame and a time of agony. Ordinary men were promoted to generals and generals were reduced to invalids. But under all this was the most painful reality known to man: death.

Death, in all it hard, pale, and sallow reality. It covered the landscape where fallen soldiers lay their bodies forgotten by all except the grieving wives and weeping mothers who would never see their sons return. Death is no respecter of persons, it is cruel and harsh. It steals for its own and gives nothing in return but aching, sorrowful thoughts of what could have been. Roawia was hanging in this curtain of death. It enshrouded the people and suffocated their joy. There are no words to describe the loss of a loved one. After a time of war, the best reaction is silence and stillness. May the silence bring peace and erase the pain of death……

Nice work Sir Valiant! Love the bridge. :) One critique, the scene looks way to cheery (except for the dead guy), I think you were going for a sad mood, but when I first see the moc I get a happy summer day. The story is sad, the dead guy is sad, but the photography and bright lively green scene contradict what you were going for. :)

Great MOC man! I really like the different colours of rockwork and that tree :)
I agree with mpoh, though, about the happiness. Maybe using more dark green/ tan? ;)

@ Mpoh98 - Thank you! As for the sad mood of the MOC this is what I think. I was trying to convey the loss and stillness of the scene. Besides the three dead soldiers, the only living being is the Vulture. It is not conveying complete destruction, but rather the loss of life. You can still hear the rustling in the trees, the bubbling creek, but life itself is gone. Thanks for sharing I will be sure to think of that next time.
Also, I am having a bit of a hard time not overexposing my photos and this one suffers from that! :)

@Gyustsil - Thanks bud, good tip as well.

@ Brother Steven - Thank you! :)

This is a really nice build. Very silent feel to it. Looks like it would be in a cloudy with a quiet breeze. You depicted the feel very nicely.
