Self-Defending Fortress

Post by Toltomeja »

Another crazy idea. Castle MOCs have always been immobile, and so... defenseless. What if a castle was suddenly attacked by some angry Technic creation? It can't jus give up!

See it in action here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/toltomeja/15686181072/

It is driven by 3 NXT motors, two for the wheels and one for catapults. And you never know what it will do next... :)

Full set

Enjoy and... Beware!

That's a wonderful idea - and very well executed!

I'm not so sure about why it would be moving about though, perhaps some additional details to explain that would have been nice? Some weird magical effects or funky wheels or even legs (an upgraded Baba Jaga-hut!) about its foundations perhaps...?

This is really an excellent MOC and a very creative idea. :)
The creation itself has some great details, I like the textured walls and vines growing on them. I think you did a great job making the build look entirely like a normal castle while still including some great functions. The fact that this thing drives is very neat. You can either fight or flee in the midst of battle!
The double catapult is genius, great work.
One thing that I really thought was interesting was the sensor for the NXT on the front. It look like a pair of eyes, as if the castle was really a living beast!

Happy Building,

Well, I don't really know why it all happened. I just built a castle, as usual and... it started moving just like that. No idea about the story behind it - that's the only excuse I have :)

Thanks for the comments! And in case you were interested, I've added 3 photos of the mechanisms inside to the Flickr set (ones at the bottom):

This really deserves more than 3 comments! You did a great job with the execution of a unique idea. I have no experience with NXT motors or various sensors, so that part was extra impressive to me.

Fantastic! I'm pleasantly surprised by how smoothly it all works.
