6086-X Return to the Black Knights Castle

Post by Dubbadgrim »

Features a working drawbridge and removable back corner to allow access to dungeon, armoury and wall walkways. I'll probably add some more pics to a brickshelf folder soon™.

This is a lovely rendition of the Black Knights Castle. Has a very imposing look to it, and also has the same feel as the original. Love the bit that comes apart, very seamless.

Your upgrade adds a lot of great details without losing the feel of the original. Nice work!

Dubbadgrim,

Somehow I missed this before, but I'm so glad I went back and found it. I love how you reference the original from 20 years ago, but also come up with a MOC that fits well with the best building techniques of today. Favorite details include how you lined the arches with gray accents, the cracks in the rocks underground, the great landscaping, and the overall balance of color blocking. Awesome work.

I also missed this the first time around. Great idea and wonderfully executed! It's true to the original in a wonderful way but still, as has been mentioned, very well built with neat new techniques. The dungeons is a nice touch and I am glad to see the iconic ghost of course :)

I thought I already posted on this- must've been on Flickr or something. I absolutely LOVE this rendition. This is my favorite modernized classic castle without a doubt. The color scheme, execution of the corners and hexagonal section, and landscaping are all perfect. Add the interior an playability and that just sets it over the top. Fantastic work!
