Hey, I'm wondering if you have to build in a generally more realistic castle style, or if it would be fine to try something a bit more abstract and fantasy, like a style more similar to http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment ... 1363877415 , or http://nerdreactor.com/wp-content/uploads/2 ... -art-2.jpg ? Mostly wondering for the Large Miscellaneous category.
Thanks.

Just checking...

For the Forbidden Fortress category, it mentions featuring a castle of fortress featured in a haunted tale or legend. If the castle itself is a) real, and b) said to be haunted, with this still be considered true to the spirit (pun) of the category?

19 Yes. None of the categories specify realistic creations (and of course many of them specifically call for the fantastic). Also, misc. is always anything goes.

20 - Yes. See the rules page: "LDraw images are acceptable but these entries must use readily available pieces, not large quantities of rare pieces, colors, or figures, and they must also be physically possible. "

21 - That would be pretty much a literal reading of the category description, so, yes.

22) Entries get approved, they show up. Soon there will be a "naughty list" to inform those with issues that they have issues.

Would any staff members be willing to extrapolate on the building criteria given? (namely playability)

Are the judges looking for functionality? (I am guessing)

23) Basically, build something that you are happy with. If it has "play" features, moving parts, minifigures, etc...that can help a build in judging. Other admins may address this also, but a build that would fall apart in movement, or if a wind hit it, would also be part of the "playability."

If you have specific questions, feel free to private message one of the admins and we will answer you.

For the most part, pay attention to what the categories say. Make sure your build follows those guidelines.

For the haunted inn category, can we have a monster guard the inn instead of a ghost?
And for the forbidden fortress category, can we use a legend that we made up?

Hello

I have a question about the first category - the siege.

do i need to besiege a castle, tower, other military object, etc.

or can the siege be done to other non-military facilities??

also.. do i need to use undead, cos in the prizes topic it is written "you may" but not "you have to"

Sorry, missed this one.
24 - Nope. Sorry.

23 - continued - "Would any staff members be willing to extrapolate on the building criteria given?" Simply put, build cool stuff and take good pictures. Quite frankly, that's the answer to most of the questions people ask in this thread. If something doesn't quite fit the category it's submitted in, it may not score as highly, though coolness might overcome this. If something really doesn't fit the category at all (e.g. the category calls for ships and you build a dragon), you'll be shifted over to misc, which is no big deal, it's really just so we can more easily compare boats to boats. Mostly, play well and have fun. We're not going to dictate what you build or how you build it. Categories are there to encourage creativity. If you want to include moving parts, secret rooms, traps, etc, great! If your MOC is a full playset that you can open up and access the interior to play with it, great! If you build a complete facade, that looks awesome from one angle for the camera but looks like heck from the other side, great! If you want to build something very historically realistic, great! If you want to build a fantasy MOC, great! If you want to build something more from the east or mid-east, great! If you want to build something based on Tolkien/Narnia/Game of Thrones/Mouse Guard/fill in your favorite fantasy novel or movie, great! If you want to build something based on a historical figure/place/event, great! If you want to build something out of your own imagination, great! If you want to build ____. great! As long as it's not a spaceship. Okay, just kidding, build a spaceship if you want. It probably won't score well in a castle contest, but building spaceships is fun too.

See my answer for 23 - continued above. Okay, to be a little bit more responsive on this one, the category description specifically says "The attackers and defenders may be living, dead, or some combination thereof." Living attackers vs dead defenders, dead attackers vs living defenders, dead attackers vs dead defenders, and living attackers vs living defenders are all valid interpretations of that sentence.

Does an all LEGO scene still need one shot on white paper?
