Not much of a MOC, just my "army"...
The fact is that this is the first time I have EVER put most of my minifigs together for a picture. I have over 400+ Star Wars minifigs (over 80 Stormtroopers, 70 Clonetroopers, 50 Jar Jars, and many, many more) & probably near 300 various minifigs from town, space, etc. Although I rarely incorporate them into my Castle LEGO (many would look out-of-place it seems...)
Don't be fooled, most of the minifigs I have are from the many sets I have bought (rarely), traded for (THANKS TO BENJAMIN, NOW I HAVE 6080!!!), or been given (the Forestwoman, among others) over a period of 20+ years. I still have the sets I was given when I was nine:). SO it has been a long process.
I have never bought from bricklink, and rarely from eBay (I wish I had the $$ to do so, I'd probably go nuts). I have to thank Eric (don't know if he still is around here) for most of the Black Falcon's & Crusader's I have (he really wanted Clone Troopers). I agree it is nice to see all the figs displayed, but it does look 'too busy', so I probably won't do it again for quite some time (and if I keep getting more and more, it may not be feasible to do so at all)
Anyways, thank you all for your comments. I know I never say it, but I really enjoy this site guys (and by 'guys', I mean admins), keep up the good work.
Life is Good.

Oh, am I too late to post?
Well, I just wanted to say that, ed you have an amazing army there. It looks like an army already. Really nice amount of falcons you have. I actually think that all your minifigs together there would actually take out the ancient army of Jpinoy. (Armor, shields, headgear count)

Right..... appeasment will not save you from being invaded by either him, William, or myself.
Anyhow some of my Ancients can double as Medieval civilizations. This is especially true for the Eastern armies like the Arabs, Mongols, Chinese, Koreans, and Indians.

An impressive display of medieval might and just plain work in getting them to stand together in one place long enough for a photo. I find corraling all the figs a real chore - especially with my son aiding and abetting deserters - so I tend to only photograph one subsection at a time.

Jpnoy, if this:http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=761985 is your army , he stole your title at C-C.

That's just a portion of his army. Otherwise, it wouldn't be worth bragging about.Luís wrote:Jpnoy, if this:http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=761985 is your army , he stole your title at C-C.

By the way, just how large is this army (the one that this thread is about, not JP's)?
By the way, I don't usually nitpick about spelling, but I've passed this up way too many times. I believe you mean to use the word 'dude,' rather than 'dud.' According to Merriam Webster, a dud is 'one who is ineffectual; a failure; a misfit,' and actually would be insulting if somebody didn't know what you mean.

That's one of his 25 or so armys. They all are about that size so Jpinoy has ed_dotcom beat. But hey who cares. Who's in competition? If someone's happy with their collection then they're happy with it. It doesn't matter if someone has a bigger one.Luís wrote:Jpnoy, if this:http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=761985 is your army , he stole your title at C-C.

BTW, the Chinese now have a 4th sub-faction which are clad in dark gray and specializes in fighting with the Chu Ko Nu http://www.arco-iris.com/George/chu-ko-nu.htm, and the Kwan-Dao. I've also rearranged the light infantry guys, so many of the China pics there are outdated now. The same with the Indian ones.
Lingjiatan (Red) = spear and bow & arrow
Chengtoushan (White) = halbierds and crossbow
Rizhao (Blue) = swords and javelins
Xi'an (Dark Gray) = kwan-daos and cho-ko-nus

Ok my men are ready for battle JP Notice all the range/horse power my army has, great for hit and run.JPinoy wrote:Right..... appeasment will not save you from being invaded by either him, William, or myself.

Ancients triple in their amounts of troops, medieval are hard to get. Your ancients are impressive for that reason.
I also agree with forester, its not who has the most minfigs but how happy you are with your collection
P.S. Since your indian army is getting out of date like you said, say good bye to them
ahhh we seem to get these "stacking contests" from time to time.jwcbigdog wrote:You guys are kinda dogging on the guy who started this whole thread. The point is that that army is pretty impressive. And I don't understand the rationale behind building up certain parts, he seems to have plenty of everything to start his own little civil war if he wanted to.
Nice Work, Ed
Nice army Ed. Have you ever done a huge battle with them? if not, are you going to? and if you are will you please link us to the pics?

Look at the 2 rear lines of cavalry (black horses) at the back. The 2 lines of horsemen behind the Kahilawayan cavalry (red horse battle helmet & Black Knight shields). Those guys are Kazakh Cavalrymen armed with the Composite Bow, Quiver, and a sword. Talk about hit and run!
There's 44 of these guys in that previous pic.
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=626936
Mongols have Mangudais (cavalry archers).
The Hsia-Linjiatan (red) also has cavalry archers, and Hsia-Xi'an has mounted crossbowmen.
And yeah, that Indian army pic is out of date as it does not include their War Elephants. Those things will plow right through your cavalry hordes.
Anyhow Im not yet "happy" with my collection as my aim is to get bigger more realistic (numerically) armies.

I agree with Freak. It would be cool to see all those figs in a massive battle. Think of the minifig carnage, little yellow hands littering the ground, arms with pegs for shoulders everywhere. It would be really easy to pretend like a fig was just cut in half, or decaputated. Oh the humanity!!!
What do you say Ed?

I would like to see pictures of great minifig battles aslo, to get ideas on how to make my own ones.
Oh, and JP, elephants...come on. My knights are not going to attack, unless its clear and safe, first I might as well harass a little with the calvary bowmen, lure into a trap or something. Guerilla combat will be the best way to fight with my smaller (size) army, a defensive battle, since I have many archers. Oh yea and my army will never be the greater size, because it's too expensive getting them. Plate mail knights with visor approx. $5, falcon shield $1, $horse approx. 1. Dark grey sword and flag/lance and saddle $1. That is the standard knight $8. I don't know the value of your men so I would say 1 knight=8 indian infantry. What I like best about your armies are the calvary, those are cool, Ill give you credit for that.
Ok were kind of messing up this thread. Sorry about that.
DAn
P.S. The Ruthless Paladin minifig is worth $12 dollars so how many minifigs is it going to take to stop him? (hes invulnerable)

Speaking of armies and battle scenes.... how about CC holds an contest for who can make the best looking battle scene?
You can have categories for things like:
-Naval
-Open Field
-Hit & Run
-Castle Siege
and whatever else...
You could even have "weight classes" like 20 troops = "small", 80 = "medium", 150 = "large", 300 = "giant", and 1,000 or more can be called "Battle of Armageddon".
To prevent lame things like simply sticking a bunch of minifigs onto baseplates. Im thinking using bricks & plates as scenery to make it more realistic looking. Think of game like Rome: Total War or Medieval: Total War but done in Lego.
Something to this effect of a battle scene:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=601171
Field wars should have bricks to give different elevations or trees nearby.
