Colossal Castle Contest 15

Post by architect »

The CC Team is proud to announce our fifteenth annual building contest: The Colossal Castle Contest XV. It begins on November 1st, 2017 and ends on December 31st, 2017.

This contest is a bit different than other contests. We have a variety of categories each with one prize for the winner. Some categories require small creations and others need larger ones. Everyone, even with a limited supply of bricks, should be able to enter several categories. We are looking for creativity, not who has the most LEGO.

Check out the prizes. Classic Castle sets include Horse Cart, Catapult, King's Catapult, Battle Dragon, Black Knight's Boat, Sea Serpent, Black Knight's Guardshack, Black Knight, Dragon Wagon, and Skeleton Surprise. The fifteenth CCC also has awesome new prizes including King Pig's Castle, Magic Rescue from the Goblin Village, and Breakout from the Goblin King's Fortress. It truly is colossal!

Thank you to several anonymous donors and Rich Stehnach "Blackrock" for donating prizes for this contest.

The contest rules can be found here Enjoy!

Entries can now be submitted here.

Before you ask, yes there are some changes. You will note...there is a change in the image size rule. And we are currently working on a plan for feedback.

:D :D Best time of the year is here!
Some really tremendous categories this time around too!

Couple of questions:
Is micro-scale only allowed in the miscellaneous categories and Micro Siege?
For the Video Game Castle category, do you need to build an actual fortress from a game, or is any medieval game setting acceptable?

Woohoo! Time to get building! :D Plenty of great categories to choose from, and the updated image rule is very nice.

A huge thanks to the admins for hosting this once again as well, I don't think I know of any other contest that has been going for 15 years :)

So here we are again, and guess what, I'm already building my first Entry:-)

I highly appreciate the new Image Size-Rule and the intention to give a little feedback to the builders, sounds great!

The categories are pretty cool, so I think there will be a lot of great entries this year.

Thank you again for hosting this contest! It's hard to believe that my first CCC was number 5, now, 10 years later I'm still here. I haven't been able to participate in the last couple, but since I no longer have my grey bricks tied up in one MOC, I hope to enter.

Woohoo!!!!!!!!! Some nice categories this year! :D Gonna be a fun one! Going for 7 entries if I can fit them all in! Thanks again admins for setting this up! :D I have already been building! :D Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with! :D

Ok, question already... Does the circus category strictly mean a medieval circus, or can I have a Hobbit interpretation with the dwarves of Erebor as the circus... (Beorn calls them a circus in the book and movies...) I am wondering if that is too much of a stretch of the category, or whether it would fit? Thanks! :D

1. The other categories should be minifig scale. You can however use microscale as a forced perspective background in a minifig scale entry.
For the Video Game Castle category, do you need to build an actual fortress from a game, or is any medieval game setting acceptable?
2. No. The scene could be inside a castle dungeon (ie: Prince of Persia), outside a castle (ie: Mario Brothers), or a medieval related scene (ie: Age of Kings).

3. That is probably too much of a stretch for the category. However it does sound like a great miscellaneous entry.

I just finished up my first entry and went to submit it on the website, but looks like the submission page isn't working yet... It just opens a page that says "Error: Invalid Contest, or could not locate config file for contest: cccxv". Some help would be appreciated, thanks!
