Hey Sparkles,

Great work. I especially like how you incorporated the HP doorframe:

That's a piece that normally sticks out like a sore thumb, but you've successfully camoflaged it. I also really like the idea with the swords and the stickshift bases. I'll have to use that sometime.

Very cool MOCs! I especially like the graveyard. The keep is well done. It is plain but most probably were. One thing no one has mentioned is your opening design on the hut. I like the moving baseplate. That could really have a place in my toolbox. I like how you can build landscaping against the house and still move it. Very cool!

Hey,

Your use of lever bases and swords gave me this idea. I'm not sure it looks so great--maybe if I had a light gray torso to match the backstud.

Thank you! I actually wouldn't have tried to camouflage it, except that I didn't have the piece in the right color. But hey, at least I used almost all of my black 1x1 round tiles to do it, right? *sigh*

Yes! It took me a while to figure out how to do this. The Hagrid's Hut model isn't very sturdy on its own, so a baseplate helps out a lot. Of course, then there's the problem of a lack of tiles, so I opted to use a second baseplate. That posed another problem... I had to move the hinge, which took a lot of work for something that is barely noticable, but I like the result. Thanks for the comments.

I'm not sure I'd use this for a stab would (I usually just pull the torso and legs apart and jam the sword or spear in between), but this actually gives me another idea. Just take the stick shift piece, don't even removed the lever, and stick it on just as you have, and you've got yourself an arrow wound.

Hmmm, you know, you gotta watch out for those anonymous goblin things with no backstories  .

Really great mocs! I also enjoyed the swords, very original, and they work both ways, as crosses or as soldier's swords. The statue on the tomb and the two knights paying their respects is a memorable and stoic image that I will keep bookmarked for a while.

Thanks! That is really nice to hear, because that's kind of what I was going for. The problem is that those little plastic men tend to look cheery even in the most dire situations.

Well, hopefully nobody was itching to see more pictures of the keep, because as of last night, it is no more. I started work on my next project, which uses a lot of the same elements from the keep. Of course, building in the same style tends to lead to a recurrence of problems (i.e. lack of tiles, lack of plates in like colors, minifigs' access to upper floors and access to the interior for photos), but hopefully I'll get past them and have something posted in the next week or two.

I finally figured out how to take pictures close-up with my digital camera, so I now have some better pictures of my modifications to Hagrid's Hut. Unfortunately, some of the pictures seem to have been damaged when I uploaded them from my camera, but they are still clear enough so I will post them anyway.

A plain overhead view, with the beautiful Lady Stephanie out front:

The front wall swinging open:

A view of the new hinge:

The interior, complete with non-Hagrid scale bed and bedside table (and a kitty! Aaawww... he's so cute!):

And more pictures in the folder, when moderated:
