Hello!

Yeah, that's a great castle with lots of nice ideas and details. I like the roofs, and I even like the colour scheme.

Just for the record and for Bruce's database:
It was built by Jens Heyer, a fellow 1000steine member.

Okay. I never will be able to find peoples names like Bruce :D . And I o like the roofs. The way he does the texture is just awesome.

And the color schme is also good.

I like the doors too. I may have to use something like these for my castle that I'm building right now.

I really like the doors, I don't think that I have seen that technique done on quite that scale before, very cool. the details are nice, I like the wizard fishing, but most of all I like the largest tower. The "wooden" parts portruding from the stone is a great effect. I don't know how keen I am on the purple, I would have used black, but I am a little boring.

Fabulous job!!!

That's a nice castle structurally, although i wouldn't call it anything spectacular (although it IS big...)

What stuns me is all that purple! That stuff has to be fairly expensive, I would assume. I mean, how many sets have those pieces?

Hey,

That's an awesome MOC. Thanks for pointing it out (and thanks for the name, Jojo). I've never seen that much purple in one place before. My favorite details include the curved roof

the use of 1x2 panels in this canopy

the gates

and just all the little purple highlights, like on the crennelations.

The somewhat spectacular thing about this castle is the great amount of nice building ideas in spite of the bigness. And the fact that there is no really weak spot in it, in respect of the busyness of the overall-picture, not in respect of the conquerablyness of the walls...

Those purple tiles were available from Pick-A-Brick (in Germany, so please don't ask if that's the case with any North American PABs as well).

I'm not sure if those are panels. I assume it's a combination of tiles and regular 1×2 bricks.

Someone get me a shoehorn, a plunger and a sack of bees....

Now Jojo has a place for his Danju army!

Lovely MOC, very inventive in general. Interesting uneven-ness on the roofs and a LOVELY colour scheme.

I'm in shock, this is a really nice castle. I love the purple color, and the army of wizards isn't so bad either. My compliments to whoever designed it.

Looking at it again, you're right. They actually vary in height. I was just looking closely at that Legoland CA picture we discussed in the other thread, and they used 1x2x1 panels on steps to make an effect like that, so I guess I just had that in mind.

Wel it certainly adds a new approach to the wizards castle. Very interesting colour scheme and some great techniques used to create this.
I too am shocked at the number of purple pieces he uses in this MOC, but it does actually work well with the light grey walls.

I for one would not like to be the poor soldier who's army decides to attack this. Wizards are very powerful you know! ;)

I saw this castle quite some time ago and loved it, but I'm not in the habit of posting other peoples' MOCs (you never know if they were planning on posting it themselves). I think the purple looks spectacular, and is too often overlooked as a viable color option. It's a shame that it isn't included in more sets.
