Greebling is a term that means making highly detailed features on a MOC, such as a space-ship.

According to The Completely Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia, the term came from the production team for the original movies: "a term used by the production designers and artists for the films, a greeblie is any technological-looking detail added to a starship or vehicle design."
Rosetta Stone Digital Dictionary and Wikipedia both relate the term to computer graphics, but since the computer graphics community is a geek* community that grew up since Star Wars, it is completely consistant that they may have incorporated the term from the SW source.

In LEGO, greebles (greebling, greeblization, greebly) usually refer to small elements covering the surface of a Space or other tech-y creation. For instance:

This is at the opposite end of the spectrum from studless ships. For instance:

Think of the contrast between the Millenium Falcon on the well-greebled end, and the Naboo Royal Starship on the studless end.

D'oh! I resemble that geek remark!

The geek term changes according to the perspective that you're looking from.
I know that I'm no geek, but that's off topic. Anyways, I use your way of "cheating" often because of lack of my bricks.
