I saw this on brickshelf, and instantly clicked it. I could tell from the background who built this moc.
I love all of Takeshi Itou's moc. And this one is no exception. I think that he was a little off with the arch on the bridge. I can't tell if he was going for a gothic arch, or just a round one, but it looks a little off. But still nice.
There is so much life in his mocs. That is why he is the best!

Edit: Does anyone else notice those two hooded peasants traveling together in most all of his castles mocs? Creepy...

Itou is one of the very few people who can do the same thing over and over and over and over again and it almost doesn't get old. Occassionally I'm struck with a 'ho hum' feeling with some of his MOCs, but this one is fresh enough that I'm intrigued enough to click on it.
Overall I like this MOC, very dramatic. In fact I think I'll have to do something like this someday.
However I must say I'm not too thrilled with the bridge's shape. I think he should have used less 33 degree inverse slopes and more 45 degrees on the underside of the bridge, currently the curve of the bridge is lopsided and isn't appealing to my eye.
I also don't like the pointy roof, but that's a smaller detail I can look over.
I do love the terrain and the detail in the water. Had I done this MOC I probably would have overlooked the water mostly, maybe a few rocks here and there. Itou has a very keen sense of not overlooking anything.
I also like his solution to the footpath of the bridge. If this was my only MOC built at the time, I probably would have sloped the footpath with plates only, giving it a very gentle curve. But without using plates, I like Itou's solution, it's really easy on the parts and still looks good.

Not until you mentioned them did I notice. In some of them, they're wearing green. In others, they're wearing white. Maybe there's a story behind them, or maybe he just uses the same figs repeatedly?Dragon Master wrote:Edit: Does anyone else notice those two hooded peasants traveling together in most all of his castles mocs? I love this guy's creations. I'm always in awe of any nice landscaping, and this guy is the best I've ever seen at building landscapes. Some of the buildings themselves aren't all that spectacular (always nice, but not always special), but the scenery around them is amazing. This one is no exception.

I really can't say anything specific about this MOC's features, as they are all awesome. Quite frankly, Takeshi Itou is my favourite MOC-maker. What I love most about his MOCs, quite apart from the awesome contruction involved, is how eminently suited they look to tell a story in. And this bridge is no exception. Just looking at it I get ideas....

This is quite a MOC. The landscaping is awesome! The bridge I like a little less. I agree with Tony that amout of inverted 1x3 slopes could be lessened with other slopes, and the bottom of the center of the bridge looks too flat. Also, I think it would look better with an accent color. Sand green, maybe, for moss. Trust me, with all that water, there SHOULD be moss growing on everything!
Also, the pointy roof bugs me a lot, but everything else is awesome!

Wow.
I love all of the stuff this guy does...
Like many others have said, something seems a bit strange with the bridge, but I really found that offset by the landscaping and the cool little outposts at both ends. I think one of my favorite things about this MOC is the concept itself - I love the whole idea of the toll bridge kind of thing.
I think it would be really cool if someone with lots of bricks extended this idea to two cities in the mountains connected by a "Gorge Bridge". That would take a lot of landscaping though...

Sometimes there are MOCs which are too good for criticism. Most of Takeshi Itou's MOCs fall into this category. While it is true that you could find some small faults with his work, I don't really think that they warrant much criticism.
Takeshi is clearly a master when it comes to LEGO bricks. His ability to create detailed works, using basic construction is unparalleled! Simply put, I don't know of any builder who puts out such detailed, and enjoyable MOCs on a more consistent basis. I certainly don't feel qualified to criticize his work! He is one of the few builders who continues to inspire me.

Another great addition to his list of amazing creations. I wonder if he keeps each one, or dismantles for the pieces. I would hate to dismantle any of these, amazing. He has to be close to or if not, the best mocer on Brickshelf.
Cheers.

I envy his ability to create beautiful scenery/landsacping. The bridge is reminiscent of a high arching Chinese Bansai bridge. I feel that really accentuates the gorge and allows it to be a focal point for the piece. I think a lot of older asian bridges were high arch like this, perhaps it couldn't have been pulled off using the other slopes. It is amazing how you can enjoy each aspect of his creations. I really like it.
something to aspire to.

I like it somewhat. I kinda glanced at it I like some of his others more though. I was looking for those peasants and noticed another character more and that was the Wizards wife I think( I cant see the torso on that fig) But it is the one with a Blue wizards hat, blue legs and white and blue torso.
