Caerphilly Done!

Post by Dragon Master »

Check out Carney's latest castle:

http://12.223.136.182/amisfield/index.htm

He has rebuilt his model of Amisfield Tower with new plans and in Dark Gray, prehaps a more suitable color for the tower.

I was schocked to see that he had done this castle so quickly. This is his 101 castle completed.

Actually castle 100 (Caerphilly) is still in progress, but it was started before Amisfield (version 2) so it is still his 100th. Its almost done according to the good Doctor, and will be fully published soon.

Here is a link to some of the progress pictures of Caerphilly, its going to be a great castle: http://12.223.136.182/caerphilly/index.htm

Keep it up Dr. C,

As a model, Amsfield just doesn't do it for me. This new version doesn't really add anything on the original. Sure its a bit larger, but I really don't see this as being worth the effort. I am impressed by the number of 45 degree corner pieces the good doctor has though.

Later.

I've never been to Europe, so I've never actually seen a castle in person. My hometown in Texas had a small log castle in it, but it doesn't exist anymore. Is the model of Caerphilly to scale for LEGO men?

All of Dr. Carney's castles are built to serve a minifig. I reccomend checking out some of his other castles, this is one of his smallest. Check out Burg Stalek, you'll be surprised.

I too have never seen a genuine castle. I've been to Hammond Castle, and a few buildings that are supposed to look like castles, but I really can't wait to see one someday!

He has rebuilt his model of Amisfield Tower
Judging by the size of it, I probably have enough Lego's to build it! (in light gray)
Which is rare when it comes to his castles!

Caerphilly is looking HUGE! In fact I don't think he's going to build the entire complex because his table doesn't look big enough!

Actually, very few of Dr. Carney's castles are built to scale. A perfect example is Beaumaris. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will find that Beaumaris is approximately 1/2 its proper size when scaled to a minifig! That means if you wanted to build it to scale, it would have to be TWICE AS BIG  !! That would require 8 times the LEGO!!!

I think that people forget how big some of these castles are!
