Marakoeschtra again! Medieval harbor

Hey all,

There's progress on the identity of Marakoeschtra! He's contacted Stuzifand, a Dutch AFOL who posts on FBTB and Lowlug, and Stuzifand gave him my contact information, so we're getting closer. :D

In the meantime, though, we'll just have to make do with another amazing MOC, a medieval harbor.

He's moved on to including fully furnished interiors. Either this builder has a huge backlog of MOCs that he's built over the past few years, and he just discovered Brickshelf, or else he's one of the most prolific builders I've seen. The rate at which he is putting out these high quality creations is breathtaking.

There are some beautiful ideas - lots of beautiful ideas in his harbour.
It makes me wish I had more time to build - and more money to buy - very inspiring.

Amazing stuff, as always. My first thought was "medieval skyscraper".

I like his (I assume, with foundation, that it is a him) photography skills. The backgrounds here lend his pics a veneer of "officialism".

I love the dock, with the stone stairs leading from the street to the wooden wharf. I will admit to being a bit perplexed by the doors on the upper levels of the "skyscraper". They open onto nothingness.

I do believe the doors are there for building large ships in the harbour, giving the construction crew easy access to all levels of the mast and rigging. I could be wrong though this is only my best guess.

Truly amazing. This is probably the best harbor I have seen.

Notice he calls that the warehouse. There are real buildings like this. See the chain at the top? It normally would have a hook that could be lowered to any floor. Then whatever is being stored can be moved in or out. I actually work in a building with doors like this, but we use forklifts now. :)

Man, has he ever been productive! In the past month, we have seen no less than four amazing MOCs. I like how well his MOCs are constructed. They are quite detailed, and remind me of Takeshi Itou's fine work.

And to those who wishing for more time and money, I think you are forgetting the most important element in making a MOC look this good:

TALENT!!

Marakoeschtra has it in spades.

Later.

This guy is nuts! And I mean that in the best way possible.

Besides the fact that he is turning these babies out a lightening pace, this guy is truly an origional. I know docks, trees, windmills, villages, etc have been constructed by various builders in the past, but the shape and style of these thing are truly unique. Who would think to make a dock like this!

This is truly amazing,

DM

Watch out Itou, another castle builder is taking over!

His MOCs seem to get better and better each new one I see. :O

I hope he goes to BrickFest so we can see his stuff in person.

This MOC is amazing and the level of detail is fantastic. I think the trees are very well done and fit in in a realistic manner.

His MOCs have a familiar feel to them.
There's progress on the identity of Marakoeschtra!
Call me crazy, but I think Jojo is Marakoeschtra. Compare Marakoeschtra's windmill: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=118063 to Jojo's Tower in the Lonely Woods http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=46446.
Not only do the pics have similar views and angles, they have a similar style and resolution. Jojo's alter ego perhaps? Or maybe he "borrowed" Jojo's camera? Or maybe I'm just oversensitive to good MOC pics due to my lack of picture taking skills... Just speculating.

Thats not Jojo. Why on earth would anyone pretend to be a different builder. And Besides, Jojo pays much more attention to the finer details IMO.

No, probably not. But since the identity of Marakoeschtra is in question and since Bruce brought it up, I thought I would add an observation. That's all. Just trying to be funny.
Why on earth would anyone pretend to be a different builder.
Don't know. Why would anyone contact a Dutch AFOL in order to contact Bruce? "Hey Bruce, I'm contacting you." See? That wasn't too hard.
Besides, Jojo pays much more attention to the finer details IMO.
I agree. Again, I was just having some fun.

I've been asking around on every board I can, especially since I suspected that this builder might be European, or even Dutch (some clues from backgrounds, the name, the prevalence of windmills), and therefore less likely to post on some of the same boards. Stuzifand, who is a member (admin?) on Lowlug, said that Marakoeschtra tried to register on Lowlug, but the e-mail he used was invalid, so the registration had failed. So Stuzifand posted a general message on Lowlug, in the hopes that Marakoeschtra would read it (I don't post there because it's all Dutch language). Since Lowlug doesn't post personal contact information, Stuzifand did not post my e-mail on the site, but rather asked Marakoeschtra to PM him. Now that has happened, and Stuzifand gave him my contact information, and also told him that his stuff was much admired here on Classic-Castle and urged him to register here, so I'm waiting to either hear from him directly, or for him to show up as a new member here on c-c.com.

Whew.

Hello!

As always this is great stuff. His building style (so clean and clear) reminds me too of Takeshi Itou's works of art.
In this shot the idea with the dock is very nice. And I like that he did interiors.
