Bigger (!) Yellow Castle by Infyrana

Discussion of personal LEGO Castle creations

It's been a while since a MOC has made me stop and spend minutes looking at each photo! This is a really cool looking castle. Building it in yellow really makes it stand out....

Wow, that's incredible...and yellow too!

I love the different tower shapes and shape of the courtyard. It really lends itself to the design of the original yellow castle...or maybe its just so yellow...we may never know :D . My compliments to Infyrana on this huge project.

I don't think it's Orion, Orion is a bit bigger, but this could be the Emperor his yellow castle.

This is one nice MOC. I like the 360° curved towers and stuff. It's a real beauty. But maybe the builder should instead of using those KK1 helmets, crossbows only use minifig weapons from the time of the real Yellow Castle. It doens't really fits in the castle.
That's only my opinion.

If I were ever able to build something like that, I don't think i'd ever let my kid near it, much less in it. :D

Very nice MOC.. I especially appreciate how each tower is built in a different style. This really shows me that this builder has the creativity and imagination to keep away from the standard square tower. I never have been a big fan of yellow castles but I must admit that this one catches my fancy. Very nice job.

Compliments, Infyrana; awesome work!

I really like the details like the use of sloped 1x1 cylinders, and curved walls. Did anyone else notice that none of the towers are the same shape? He has a square one, rectangle one, triangle one, oval-shaped one, and a circle shaped one; really neat!

I never new yellow could look so good in quantity in a castle MOC!

This Castle Rocks!! He did such a good job at escaping the standard square most castles (and all of mine) seem to suffer from. I really like the fact that it is modular and you can change the position of the towers to however you want. Alot of thought went into the design and it shows. Plus, you gotta love the sheer size of it. Great Job Infyrana!

It seems the builder, whose name is Henning Friis Andersen, has posted over at LUGNET about the castle. http://news.lugnet.com/castle/?n=20774
It sounds like he was planning on entering this in the CCC, but didn't finish it in time.

Hi all

I only found this thread today (from the very nice posting on the front page). Thanks everyone! This is much better comments than I ever dreamed of!

To answer one of your questions. The boy in the pictures is my five year old son and no he didn't actually build the castle although he really is very good with lego.

The castle wasn't actually all that planned out from the beginning. I looked at all my special parts (brick hinges, inverted slopes, 1x1 round bricks, arches) and decided I needed to use them in force somehow. So I started building towers in various shapes with a vague plan to eventually connect them with wall sections. That way I could 1) get a somewhat random design much like reality and 2) avoid having to built an already set design without creative issues which gets very boring (my red castle had the mistake of being symmetrical - very boring to build the mirror image parts).

Eventually I of course ended up buying lots of extra bricks on bricklink. Yellow bricks however are fairly cheap.

Regarding the KK1 archer types I thought a lot about whether to include them or not. Eventually I felt they fitted in ok but I wouldn't have done it with other helmets like e.g newer visored helmets. I had already broken the strict 375 castle purity by using the wonderful new castle windows not to mention purple bricks.

Now that I've taken the effort to get registered I will likely post actively as I really like this site.
Best regards, Infyrana

Welcome to Classic-Castle,

What a sweet MOC to introduce yourself with. :D Very nicely done.

Now everybody pause for a minute and imagine a castle like this in old light grey...
