Starting it Off

Post by thebusnamedgak »

I was wondering how everyone can make these huge castle sets. Anything I can make may be creative but I don't have the parts to make it big.

How do you get all of the pieces that you do, and how much do you pay for it? I can make great sets but I don't have the materials.

I also don't understand how a lot of people get custom emblems. I see them all the time on these sets but I don't know how to do it. If someone could help me out I'd really appreciate it.

THANKS!

For lego pieces try....
Lego shop: http://shop.lego.com/?domainredir=legoshop.com
Bricklink: http://www.bricklink.com/
Or Ebay.

Money wise, I have probably spent $500 or more in the past couple months since I got back into building legos.
I probably have something like $2500 or $3500 worth of lego overall which I have collected since childhood.
I also don't understand how a lot of people get custom emblems. I see them all the time on these sets but I don't know how to do it.
You can make your own custom stickers to put on mini-figs, flags & shields, etc.
There are also some websites that sell custom lego stuff. (can't remember any off the top of my head) Im sure someone will post some of those sites for ya.

Check out the "How To" section on the Classic-castle homepage. This will explain some about the custom stickers you can make.

I often feel the same way. Go to http://www.lego.com to get castle sets.

You must bear in mind that many builders who come up with large or huge creations are not teens but older LEGO fans. The older you get the more pieces you are able to collect. When those who build huge creations were kids/teens they wouldn't have been able to build creations that huge. Somehow I guess you ARE a teen :-) So be patient and keep collecting. Thus you will be able once to build big!

Red Been and Little Armory are places to get custom stuff. Personally, I like yard sales and thrift stores, cause you usually can get old Lego there for a good price.

Maynard Ferguson is this jazz trumpet player with an insanely high range. Supposedly, he was once asked how he learned to play so high, and he answered that at one point he decided to try to play one note on the scale higher each year, and spend a whole year working on getting that note with a clear tone. The next year he would go up one tone. After decades as a professional musician, he said, he figured he had a pretty good range.
Similarly with a brick collection. Don't look at the collections of some people here and worry about how much bigger they are. Just decide to buy a few sets this year. Keep it up, and pretty soon you'll have a huge collection.

I can appreciate your frusteration, but I'm afraid I'd have to agree with the postings above. When I first started collecting again back in 2001, my collection was 3 classic sets... now it's MUCH bigger, and I'm not even sure how it happened... who knows what the size will be in 4 more years... but I'm looking forward to it! :P
Knight Templar
n. pl. Knights Templars or Knights Templar
1.A member of an order of knights founded about 1118 to protect pilgrims in the Holy Land during the Second Crusade.

Thank you for the help. I've created some kool new synbols and found some I liked for my army. I've already created toon leaders for my 2 armies. They were pretty bad (before) but I like them a lot more with the custom emblems.

Next step: making my decent but small castle's much bigger!!!

Any one know where I can get bulk amounts of pieces good for making walls besides eBay? :?: :?: :?: :?:

Try www.bricklink.com . It's always got bulk pieces, especially for walls.
