I'm building a cathedral for quite some time now, but the truth is I've never been very satisfied with its towers or its spires. I want them to be an octogonal pyramid, in the style of the great spires built in Germany in the 13th Century. The truth is, I'm having a little trouble achieving that effect.
Here are some examples I found of cathedral spires that please me, but I still haven't figured out exactly their design:

This design is good, although since my scale is much smaller, I'm not sure ti will work out.

THis design I haven't figured out yet. Anyone knows how this spire is built.
BTW, here is my folder with a couple of pics f my construction:

Any ideas or sugestions on how to make a spire like an octogonal pyramid would be much welcome.
For reference on the look I aiming for, bear in mind the cathedrals of Koln, Freiburg or Ulm, for example.

It looks like the first method (which I think looks the best)
uses 1x1 round bricks for the "ribs" in between the octagonal sections. I think you could do something similar. Instead of bricks, try using long hose pieces or a series of bars or lances.
Then have plate connectors such as these pieces:
Finally, add plates to the connectors studs at proper intervals to make the octagonal pyramid.
