While Im not in the contest (dude, I got too many kings and his torso is the KK2 archer torso, and I got quite many of the face, even though its a honorful mark to have a price, I must say no) I will ask a number of questions for everyone's need:

-Stickers and painting? While a purist may use his wits to combine pieces to make them look good, a customizer can easily win by painting them and put stickers, etc.

-If anything wants to be unique, like making a Conquistador theme, is that allowed, since its practically a reinassance theme? What more counts and does not count as a Castle Theme? Narnia? HP?

-Colors, how far can it go until the sides are unrecognizable?

25% off an order at Troy's is pretty good too, but do what you will.

They're allowed, though I can tell you for this contest they might score lower. Stickers will pprobably have less weight against them than painting and modification - not everything is about chopping up the brick.

The official Classic-Castle.com policy on acceptable themes for the Castle MOC area, and thus allowed for this contest, states that it must be a medieval style theme. The policy goes on to describe said style as any time period in an area of the world that predates or occoured just at the introduction of firearms. Conquistador theme - no. Pirate theme - as long as its medieval pirates. Narnia - it's been too long since I've read it; no guns, no tech, maybe. I'll talk it over with the other admins. HP - set in the future, but since it typically involves magic-only, I'll talk it over with the other admins.
-Colors, how far can it go until the sides are unrecognizable?
Your call. Remember the contest does not require you to create both sides to one full chess board (though since you can enter twice you are certainly welcome to). There needs to be some level of uniformity, so if you have soldiers and you can't tell them apart because of armor or weapons, try adding shields or flags or plumes, or changing arm, waist or leg color.

Great idea
always wanted to make one really

If I'm lacking of parts in some colors (or LEGO was too lazy to make them in that color) can I use LDraw for that?

Taken from the Colossal Contest Rules:

"LDraw images are acceptable but these entries must use readily available pieces, not large quantities of rare pieces, colors, or figures."

Part of the challenge of any building contest is to make due with what you have.

Are we going to institute disqualifying people from now on if their pics are too large? I think that if you have the benefit of having your pics too large and someone tells you to shrink them, the've still seen them larger and therefore they might see some more detail(although they might not). It's just if people have their pictures too large, it kinda disadvantages someone who plays by the rules the whole way through. I hope this doesn't offend anybody.

Historically, we've always had people try to enter our contests while breaking the rules. We are good sports about it, tell them what is wrong and how to correct it, and let them fix the error. If they cannot fix the error by the contest deadline, then we disqualify them.

Judging for a contest this size usually doesn't begin until the contest deadline anyway.

Personally I have my monitor set to 800x600, which means I only get to see a small portoin of any larger picture at a time. I'm a big picture person, so if I have to scroll around to see the whole picture, I miss out on a lot. Personally, I see a heck of a lot more detail when the entire picture is on my screen than otherwise, but that's just my thought processes for you.

I have another question, Anthony.

My rooks have a 3x3 base and 5x5 top. Is this acceptable? I figured that as long as the base stayed inside the 4x4 square, it would be alright, but then I wondered if it had to be centered on the square.

SavaTheAggie wrote: [*]All pieces MUST be compatible with the new LEGO chess board. That means the base of each piece must NOT exceed or overlap a 4x4 stud square.

5x5 top is fine.

If a piece overlaps and is 8x8 at the top, but is still 4x4 at the bottom, is that okay?
