Oh, ok then. As long as the 6x6 square is centered above the base, and it doesn't overlap more than 1 stund arond the 4x4 chess square, and it doesn't interfere with any of your other chess pieces, then that's cool.

Wow, that was quick(and relitively painless I might add)

Pffft! well what's the use of one side of a chess board? :| I think I'll make two, thank you. And yeah, I guess I am entering. It would be kina sad if I didn't.
Let us stop for a moment and ponder the signiture...

Ok, enough of that!

For the "full chess set" (second) category, do you have to have the full complement of pieces on one side actually built out, or can it be only one of each piece? In other words, only showing one pawn instead of eight (a shortage of duplicate pieces needed to make all eight being the rationale behind the question).

??

Is it okay if half of the pawns are Archers and the other half infantymen?

The entire reason behind allowing you to enter the contest twice ;)

You *must* build the entire compliment of 16 pieces to enter the Chess Set category. The problem of part shortages was the reason behind creating the first category "Single Chess Piece."

That's a judgement call you're going to have to make on your own. The short answer is: yes, you may do so. However, it is up to you to ensure that your pawns are uniform enough that they appear to all be pawns. While that is not a requirement of the contest, it will uniformity and continuity will affect judging.
SavaTheAggie wrote:The official Classic-Castle.com policy on acceptable themes for the Castle MOC area, and thus allowed for this contest, states that it must be a medieval style theme. The policy goes on to describe said style as any time period in an area of the world that predates or occoured just at the introduction of firearms. Conquistador theme - no. Pirate theme - as long as its medieval pirates. Narnia - it's been too long since I've read it; no guns, no tech, maybe. I'll talk it over with the other admins. HP - set in the future, but since it typically involves magic-only, I'll talk it over with the other admins.
I've talked it over with other admins, so here's our ruling:

Fantasy themes are fine, as long as they're "Castley".

Lord of the Rings - OK
Narnia - OK
Dungeons and Dragons - OK
Ikros - OK (sorry, shamless plug)

Harry Parter is a special situation. The story of HP takes place in our modern world, which is out. However, Hogwarts school of wizardry is pretty medieval. SO.

If you absolutely CANNOT live without a HP chess set in this contest, you MUST NOT use anything that revolves around the modern day. No flying cars, no sweaters or suits (School Uniforms are ok seeing as though there is little option otherwise), no 'tech', as it were.

Whomping Willows, Golden Snitches, Fantastical Creatures, Good and Evil Wizards, and all other sorts of Castley, Fantasy style things are perfectly welcome.

LOL!

Sorry... I just had to laugh when I noticed this.

I wonder if anyone could do a mini-dragon? That would be sweet.
