because I have slow dial-up connection I waited awhile to look at the details... on the one hand I could kick myself for waiting so long, but on the other hand, they are well worth the wait. (however your pictures were scaled so well that I actually didnt have a problem looking at them, so I lean more towards kicking myself)
as has been mentioned before, the road is excellent as well as the landscaping, mottling, and overall appearance.
The details are what truly makes a great MOC, and you have filled this with details. Big castles aren't always great (I like bob carneys big castles, but lets face it - they are lifeless) but in THIS castle there is life going on...
I really like the fish drying rack. (or is that villager selling the fish?) and filling the water barrel with clear blue one by ones!? excellent.
I think my favorite part is the upper stories, in half timber on the castle itself. You did a great job.

I'm definitely going to try building the terrain first, followed by the structures. ((because) obviously, that's what happens in real life!)

Thanks for the comments! The villager is selling fish (but drying them at the same time ; ) I'm glad you liked the half timber part of the castle, it is the part I'm least pleased with and willl hopefully improve the method for the next one...

As to my first... I have one other castle in my brickshelf gallery but it is just all my custom 80s wall sections hooked together on a coffe table... not the same thing at all ; )

I wanted to share a few of my faviorite details (because with the abundance of pics you may never see them). I was going to put this in the original post but got tired of typing : )

Anyways: (pic is link to specific picture, gallery is found here)

I love the daring of this wolf pack. He features in a lot of my future plans...
Using the large island base for a dingy cellar had been in the idea-mill for a long time.
I love the new teeth pieces! I also tried to create an elaborate pillow on this bed; if anyone has a link to pillows that actually look decent I would like to see it and improve ; )
This is proof that years later I understood the true scale of Josh Wendin's Medieval Marketplace project (Lugnet bears witness to my 'oversized' earlier attempts).
The whole interior of the hill was built with this (barely visible glimpse of) design. It can hold my weigth which I consider most impressive : )
To clarify... the yellow tudor building is the customs house of the small port, hence the confinscated goods here. The red building is the
Wayfarer's Inn, and the last building on the dock is an oar and sail repairer for the small fishing vessels which are all...er... out at sea : ) The building across the street (which can be walked under) is an expedition supply store for the large vessels...

Nice. I love the cellar especially; it looks very natural. The first pic is really small, though, and I can't really see it that well. Otherwise, everything's perfect.

For some strange reason, I hadn't seen this topic before. I'm really glad I did find it though, since THIS IS AMAZING!!!! The castle is built so wonderfully and the detail makes this a true work of art. So many things I love have already been stated, so I'm not going to repeat what everyone has already said. Excellent work, keep it up!

In my opinion, it was one of the best angles of the Castle.
I love how the wall slopes upwards towards the corner tower. You can see that clearly in the pic and you also get a glimpse of what lies over the wall. (nice dirt road by the way)
The wolf pack guy climbing the wall & the near by tree also add to the scenic value of the this section of the castle.

Thanks for the encouragement! Maybe it is just in person that this side seems inferior... The others are so tall they command the eye if you look at the MOC from across the room.

Absolutely brilliant castle. Building big castles requires a lot of foresight and overview. Building BIG castles like this complete with landscaping and interior must be even very difficult. And yet this one is complete with everything. Amazing.

Excellent piece of work. Just looking at these pics makes it impossible to wait to move to unpack all my legos.
