The Treasure House (Narnia Vignette)

Post by Dunechaser »

Hi all,

My latest vignette based on The Chronicles of Narnia is from my favorite book, Prince Caspian. In this scene, the four Pevensey children discover the treasure house of the ruined castle Cair Paravel:

(And the gallery, when public.)

Like "The Wardrobe" and "Lantern Waste," I plan on making a couple more vignette modules to go with this one.

Well, let me know what you think! :)

Wow! These are the first Lego Narnia modles I have ever seen. I like all your vignettes, and I think you should go through the story and turn it into Lego. And then post it. :D It would be just in time for the new movie.

I think this one might be the best yet. I like Edmund's flashlight, and all the clutter in the room. It does look like its been abandoned for a long time.

P.S. My favorite book is Voyage of the Dawn Treader, followed by Silver Chair, followed by Magician's Nephew.

I agree, this is a wonderful vig. Already blogged.

On Edmund's flashlight--when I first read this book as a kid, I thought it was soooo cool that Edmund got a 'torch' as a present. I mean, my folks never gave me a big flaming stick. Lucky kid.

This is your best one yet! Great clutter, and the flashlight really looks like it's illuminating the place. Can't wait to see the other modules!

Woo hoo! I'm glad everyone likes this one. :D

venvorsker, I think recreating all seven books is a bit ambitious (I started doing that for my Monty Python stuff and it never went anywhere -- short attention span or something), but I do want to make many of the most memorable scenes. "Watch this space," as they say.

Steve, I always enjoyed creating ruins for my Forestmen to hole up in back in the day, so an abandoned Cair Paravel is a really fun build.

Bruce, I thought the same thing when I read the books the first time (well, at least until they mentioned batteries)! :)

eNiGMa, thanks! I can't wait to add on. I'd love to do my own Narnian version of Nathan Yrizzary's Chateau de Vignette! 8) To be honest, it's been far too long since I built a good castle. Been distracted by Star Wars for far too long. :(

I like how the stairs extend off the side. Nice work.

Hey guys.

This is very impressive. So much stuff, fit in a compact space. Wow! This is awsome!

Time to read the book now.

Very nice, I like all three. Detailing is probably best in the treasure room, but I really like the fawn (that is what he was, right, I forget).

Thanks Lil' Jon! The stairs will connect to another (taller) vignette I'm building this week. We'll see if it'll be done in time to take pics this weekend...

Graynar, get thee to a library! :D

Thanks Kanduu! And yup, Mr. Tumnus is a fawn -- also known as a satyr (but not in Narnia). I used the same fig as Pan in my series of Greek mythology minifigs.

Aaaannd finally, I added a checkered floor to my "Treasure House" vignette:

Not a major improvement, but it fits better with the no-studs aesthetic of "The Wardrobe."
