Back to building...

Post by Jacob C. »

Im set to go on vacation in a couple days & when I come back from vacation, I start college so I probably won't have much time to finish my current project. I took a few pics of it in it's current state (only two pics came out decent)
Im not sure when I will be able to finish it.

The outer walls & gatehouse are finished and I plan on building a seperate castle in the middle....

I'll be using those burps you see in the middle as a small rocky cliff face for the inner castle and the inner castle will sit about 12 or so bricks above the lower portion of the castle. (to give it a nice dominating appearance)
I'll probably re-arrange the burps to make more space for the inner castle.

Any tips or suggestions would be welcomed.

Hmmm... Quit school so we don't have to wait for it to be completed? :D

Well, if your going to include some separate buildings within the walls, I'd leave it the way it is. You could probably fit a nice size village inside. If you're not going to have many (or any) separate buildings inside, I'd enlarge the BURP area to support a larger keep.

Oh, one other thing, if you are going to be away for a while, I'd cover it with a thick blanket. I started a nice size castle going over a Christmas break and left it together for a long time. Ruined a lot of grey that way...

Looks great so far! I too would suggest a village, or something to take up space. The keep is to far away from the wall, and without either a bigger keep, or something to fill the space in, the castle will look empty.

LOL - I agree.

This is are really promising start to a huge castle. I like the way the exterior walls slope out at the bottom. I'm a little curious to see how it fills out in the center, with the building and BURPS all living together behind the walls. I hope you can continue soon!

Great castle jacob.
I suggest a upgoing wooden path suported by various wooden beams, and plates inside the keep, so if the walls are taken, you can burn the way, and after the siege is lifted, the plates will be used to let them down.

Nice work Jacob!

Do you have any closer pics of the windows and battlements? I'd like to see the detail. :)

Thanks for posting!

Here's a pic of the battlements...

Here's some other pics....

Progress in the middle...(ignore the colored bricks you see, I'll be using them as supports under the base)
Im not exactly sure how I'll build the upper base which the inner castle will sit on. I guess I'll figure out a way...

Gatehouse wall...

As you can see I left some empty space in the walls, so I can build a stable & maybe some other small buidings.

Looks awesome so far, as most all of your MOCs. We'll be ready for the pictures as soon as you can get it done.
