Check it Out!
I hope I'm not stealing anyone's thunder, but check out Ben's AWESOME Fisherman's House:

It looks like he used a lot of mosaic sets to make the shaded walls!
Castlers, take notes!

Righto! I hadn't quite noticed that! Sure does add a nice style...I'll be that would make a nice change in my town, since everything seems to be all in the same array: up, down.

Wow, I've gotta try that some time.

Thanks for posting the link, that house sure has a unique look. Man I wish 1 x 1 plate was more available. I'll ask the question again though, does anyone know if it is worth it to purchase a mosaic set to get the 1 x 1 plate to do something like this? It would be great to know, I have toyed with the mosaic idea quite a bit and this would certainly help me decide, if I ever became bored with the picture, I could build a house out of it.

After a long absence, I have returned. I can't wait to start building again.

I think the mosaic set is very useful, especially if you want to do something like this. You get a large gray baseplate and a border of 2x4 black slopes (all useful for the castle builder). The trick is to design your own mosaic so you get almost all dark gray, gray, and very light gray.
One problem--if you order a mosaic now, I'll bet it's all in new grays. Does anyone know about this?
The mosaic process itself is a tedious build, but has a very nice result. I made this as a gift for my SO (who collects Pooh):
