Artisan - blacksmith

Post by Nick »

Here is another small vig-like MOC. I can't call it a vig as it's too large.

It's a blacksmith in his workshop, and he is forging a sword. On the wall behind him, you can see already made weapons, which will be taken by the soldiers that ordered and paid for them to be made. There are also a couple of helms and bows there.
Behind the blacksmith there are buckets with cold water, and on the right a chest for the money he gets from orders.
I made this to signify my recent promotion to the status of artisan. Artisans were the craftsmen in the middle ages, so I thought making a blacksmith is quite appropriate.

Very nice. I don't recall seeing that head before - is it custom?

It's a head from the old town theme, a fireman's head.

Its a vig-like MOC but not a vig. 8x8 is the standard. I heard of 6x6 and 12x12 but I keep them to 8x8 for standard's sake.

That guy needs a new mouth.

Well, I did say it was just a vig-like MOC.
That guy needs a new mouth.
I think it's just the brightness, as I edited the photo (brightened it up on a JPEG image). The head is actually very old; I can't remember where I got it from, as I don't have any town sets. :?

I may just be looking in all the wrong places, but I don't see a fireplace or any other source of heat. I would suggest building one if you haven't already. :)

But that was my only complaint. This is my favorite of your MOCs so far. Well done!

That's true; I forgot to make a furnace. Oh well, I suppose it could be in a different room.
This is my favourite of your MOCs so far
Thanks :D !
This was my 3rd public MOC, and I suppose MOC quality improves as you build more of them.

It's time for me to unveil yet another vig-like MOC, which corresponds to my rank, as usual. I am now a journeyman, with 400 posts! I'm renewing this thread as my new rank is similar to the old artisan.
This is a journeyman, and he works for his master, who is a blacksmith. Here, he is forging his first sword, which will become his Master's piece , and since then he will become a master himself, employing journeymen.
Here he is:
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Miros ... rtisan.jpg Tell me what you think, and don't conceal criticisms!

P.S. This is my 400th post! Cause for celebration! *Downs a 100-gram galss of vodka* :D

Wow... I always like it when you become new rank, because you always make a vig to show what you look like :D

Good as always....

I like the clay surface

Nice, you might consider adding more surroundings (and walls), sometimes backgrounds make the foreground more interesting, not to mention visible! Keep it up.

I renewed the post and added the same link, while changing its meaning. It's because my current rank is similar to the old one, and I just couldn't think of anything new.

Thanks, shadow, it's nice to see people noticing my tradition!

As for walls, I suppose I could add some to the right hand side and on top of arches.

As for the arches themselves, I intended them to be open portals onto the street, so customers can come in freely and make their orders.
