custom brick-built minifig scale monsters...rats...

Post by boses »

Here are some pics of my goblin's chief form of pack and labor animal...Rats!

The monstrous rats are almost as large as and as strong as horses, and are much easier to feed and care for...when the Goblins care for them at all...

Here is the main view of two rats and a cliff goblin...

Those remind me of R.O.U.S. (rodents of unusual size) from the Princess Bride. Were you inspired by that? I really like the creative use of the torsos.
Keep up the good work.

I wasn't basing the design on princess bride, which is a cool movie, by the

way...

I actually have always loved the Were-Rat monster, from Final Fantasy

Legend, about 10 years ago or so...I wanted to make a monster that was

not typically thought of as large or strong, and something that even the

mindless goblins could tame and use for labor...big pigs look to much like

goblins, and in my story goblins hate and fear all reptiles so no lizard

beasts...the idea of dogs, even huge ones pulling catapults and wagons

seems to terrestrial, and so I decided that giant rats who naturally dwell in

caves would fit with my cliff goblins...I hope this helps explain the origin for

my giant rats...

You wanna know what you do when they're all dead? Look through their pockets for loose change.

Great idea Boses. Those would be great to use for a Princess Bride vig or something.

Seriously, though, that's a great idea even if TPB didn't inspire it. If I might ask, though, what's with the blue thing between the ears?

The blue-thing represents hair on the back of the rat...I use that piece(the

battle droid arm) as hair in several models, including my goblins and the

Naga Queen, that I built a while ago...I chose to use the blue-green arm piece

from the Life On Mars lego sets, it stands out more then the gray or light gray

ones, and the idea of big black rats with shaggy green fur on their foul hides

works very well as a monster/ pack animal for me...
