Update: My roman army archer, slingers and a praetorian

Post by Tanotrooper »

Hi all,

I'm expending my roman army, today with my praetorian soldier by using the black euro armor, dragon helmet, custom gladius, danju's body, gungan shield and black cape.

my roman archer, with studded armor, helmet with neck protector and bow of course.

and last but not least, my two roman slingers! I need to attach the little ropes that came with the ferrari set, so this will be updated later.

The slingers look pretty good, but as for the others, I can't say that they look particularly roman. The euro armor is not anything that I'd consider even remotely roman like. The gungan shield does work though, quite nicely.

I think if you were to do some modifications on the helmets you have for the others you could get them to look like some of the Roman levies' armor. Just an idea, but they did use many of the conquered people for their "light work".

Did you stick your stuff in a scanner? And are slingers supposed to carry shields? Great job with the praetorian Tanotrooper.

Oh no! Your archer is wearing crotchless pants! I always think that yellow represents minifig skin, so the yellow hip piece always looks risque to me.

These are good, especially the praetorian, though I think the helmet on the archer doesn't look very Roman to me.

Oh, yes, and a pointer on using scanners to post your pics.... take all of the stuff out of their hands and lay the fig and accessories flat on the scanner glass (turning the head and helmet to the side might also help). This will get the best results for you, since it's hard to see some of the details. Also, if you're scanning a white minifig, or have white elements, don't be afraid to put a colored piece of paper (a nice pastel works best, like baby blue or violet) on top of the fig once it's on the glass. That will cut down on glare and help show definition.

I think with better pics you might get more of a response to your posts.

thanx fo the comments, well the helmet's neck protector is actually scalemail/platemail/scaleplate or whatever you guys call it, that's why the surface of the neck protector isnt flat. I'm going to my school library tomorrow, and copie the pic for you guys of the archer and slinger. And yes, according to that book, slinger have shields.

I followed recluce advice, and here are some updated pics:

I like the idea. They look good but the pictures are not very good.
Thanks, Thomas
