Question RE: Castle room category
Can the castle room category contain some aspect of the castle's exterior, i.e. a balcony, or something like that? Or must this room be found entirely within a castle building?

Do you pay attention to that?
One of the reasons for having a variety of categories is to accomodate both those builders with large collections and those with smaller collections. Only the "Castle" category is explicitly for those with large collections, while the "Castle Room Interior" and "Vehicles" categories will use a more limited number of bricks. Some of the other categories could go larger or smaller, but what we care about is cool building, not impressing us with the size of your brick pile.

Not to mention, that a totally sweet, but small, castle would be very impressive to see. It would certainly win against a large, but simple and unimpressive, castle.Bruce N H wrote:Ristridin,Ristridin wrote:It is not totaly fair; When you have many bricks, you can build better castles than someone with less bricks.

For everyone: Remember that it is details and quality that counts, no matter how big or small you build.

Couldn't have said it better myself, I've seen way too many (and probably built some) huge but very uninteresting castles. I mean, I've seen people with HUGE collections, but all there creations are just, there just not that great. Not to mention, that a totally sweet, but small, castle would be very impressive to see. It would certainly win against a large, but simple and unimpressive, castle.

So don't worry about people like me with huge collections. Besides, the Admins are basically forcing us to use limited parts (Which is good!).

Well I totally agree, its more about the creativity. Not to mention, that a totally sweet, but small, castle would be very impressive to see. It would certainly win against a large, but simple and unimpressive, castle.

JoJo is one of the best builders on the net and a lot of his best work is tiny! More bricks doesn't always increase the quality of the build, in fact I would say the two aren't even closely linked.Ristridin wrote:It is not totaly fair; When you have many bricks, you can build better castles than someone with less bricks.

Telling someone they have to build to a restricting limit when they have an idea for say a castle is also a little unfair.
God Bless,
Nathan

Here's a question...for the Custom Castle Minifigure category, is it required that some aspect of it be customized (i.e. cutting, stickers, etc.), or is an original design using all stock pieces alright?
Here's another one: in the Castle Room, what limitations (if any) are there on secret passages, multiple levels and the like?

Posting this again as it was never answered:

I'm planning to expand the MOC anyway for the contest, provided it's allowed.A while ago (several months at least), I uploaded a teaser picture of a castle I had built to Brickshelf, just of a small and digitally-darkened portion of the MOC (so it didn't show much of it at all). I never posted this on CC or anywhere else, nor did I ever get around to uploading any other pictures, so would this MOC be allowed as an entry or not?

You can use only stock pieces to make a unique figure or you can use customized pieces and stickers. Here's a question...for the Custom Castle Minifigure category, is it required that some aspect of it be customized (i.e. cutting, stickers, etc.), or is an original design using all stock pieces alright?
You can not have either of these. It is about one room, not multiple rooms or secret compartments. Those would be good things to include in the castle category if your castle opens up.Here's another one: in the Castle Room, what limitations (if any) are there on secret passages, multiple levels and the like?

Another way of putting it - the room category focuses on furniture, room layout, and architectural details. It does not focus on room interractions (with other rooms) and moving parts.architect wrote:You can not have either of these. It is about one room, not multiple rooms or secret compartments. Ok, last question about Castle Room Interior before you get sick of me!
Is the room meant to be designed as a Castle room or can it be a Lego Castle room? ie, a certain faction based room.
Jon.
