I have a CCC corner gate which spans two baseplates, and the way the gate is built only makes sense when hooked into a CCC town.

Since there is no CCC category, which category would it best fit in (besides Misc.)? A siege against it would look rediculus since it is thoroughly unbreachable from the front. It certainly isn't a castle, nor built in a particular theme's style. Do necromancy and alchemy count as medieval life, perhaps?

I think that swithching up the categories is actually a pretty good idea. I look forward to seeing all the great entries.

Lord Mikal,

Again, there is always the miscellaneous category if you have a creation that doesn't fit the other categories. However, to me it seems like a gate is a perfect setting for a seige - maybe if you added a battering ram or something and manned the walls with defenders.

The Grand ol Duke of York,
He had ten thousand men.

He marched them up the hill,
then he marched them down again.

And when you're up, you're up,
And when you're down, you're down.

But when you're only half-way up,
you're neither up nor down.
Water sleeps.

I have a question similar to E of Alshire's...

A while ago (several months at least), I uploaded a teaser picture of a castle I had built to Brickshelf, just of a small portion of the MOC and rather darkened (so it didn't show much of it at all). I never posted this on CC or anywhere else, nor did I ever get around to uploading any other pictures, so would this MOC be allowed as an entry or not?

It is being programmed to get the kinks out of it. There have been a couple of problems with the test version of the submit page and I am working with our CC programming admin to fix it. Look for the page to be up late this weekend, probably by Sunday. If we put up a malfunctioning page that could cause people to have to re submit entries, which would be a huge hassle.

Ok, the submit pages and entry pages are up and running. Here are a few reminders:

Submitted entries do not go live right away. Admins must check to see if they are appropriate and accurate first. This could take 10 minutes or a few days. You may ask, how do I get my submission approved quickly?

Make sure your thumbnail links are correct. If you have an image such as: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Benja ... 1cabin.jpg then you need to type it this way http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Benja ... _thumb.jpg to see the thumbnail

Image

You should also check spelling in the description, make sure you are not using images larger than 800x600 pixels, not using bitmaps, and that your link to the image hosting page is correct. Copy and paste that link in the contest form into another browser to see if it works. Many times last year people would send us broken links. We can not approve you if we can not see your creation.

Also, this is very important, you can only have 3 images in the folder that you link to. Feel free to make a separate folder with all of the images of your moc. If you link to a folder with more than 3 images in it, your entry will be disqualified. Do not create a thumbnail image in your brickshelf account folder to make 4 images total. Link directly to the thumbnails that brickshelf automatically creates.

Please keep all of these things in mind. Thank you.

Image rules

Post by Mr. Shiny & New »

Maybe I missed it in the official rules, but it doesn't seem to be mentioned: are we allowed to make image files with multiple photos in them? i.e. a collage/montage, or an inset image, or something. I understand that last year we were allowed to do that if the inset image showed some motion/action of the MOC.

Also, are there any other restrictions about how a photo may be touched up?

Action photos do not apply as much to this year's contest because we do not have categories like Outlaw Fortress that have secret openings. If you do have a secret opening or falling axes, etc you may have a smaller picture of this one feature on the larger picture. Montages are not allowed. You may adjust brightness and contrast and edit out backgrounds. If you photograph your moc with the back of a poster behind it (or butcher paper) it will be less distracting and easier for the admins to grade.

I also have a note about the castle room interior category. You can only have one room, not two or more rooms on top of each other. This is not allowed and can lead your entry to be disqualified. If you have built a room on top, please take a photo only showing one room or edit out the upper rooms.

Ok, last question on the Castle room interior..

Can we use minifigs from themes such as KKII or Wolfpack in our creations?

It is not totaly fair; When you have many bricks, you can build better castles than someone with less bricks.
Do you pay attention to that?

Ristridin, you can always win a prize if you build something small, but put so much work and detail into it and even though you may not win a prize, it's always a pleasure to participate in a contest. Sometimes the joy we have from a contest is more important than the prize. And also you can participate in the "non excessive brick" requiring categories. Anyways, I have one MOC ready to go online for the contest. I really think it looks cool, but you guys will decide it :)

Some of the most impressive entries in the past have been the small ones. Ristridin, maybe you should go look at last years winners. And by limiting the pictures to only three, the Admins really are restricting size. You can only show so much in 3 pics.
