Dragon opinion
I need an opinion. My wife likes my juvenile dragon the old way, and I'm leaning toward the new design.
So how bout you guys give me your opinions?
The left side of the picture shows the new design, mainly a re-redesigned rear foot, and the addition of viking horns.
The right side is the old version of the dragon.

I was going for more of a veloceraptor feel with the big claw - a single toe with an abnormally large 'raking' claw. There's also a dew claw on the back.lil Jon wrote:I like the viking horns as the claws, but I'm not really feeling the larger horn and only two toes.
So ideally, the hind leg would have four toes, not two.

Not what you were asking, but he looks a little block to me. Not quite as good as your previous ones.

I like the use of Viking horns for claws -- very cool! But I'm not too keen on the huge toe. The rear foot looks too small. And the "thumb" on the front "hands" at the 90-degree angle looks odd.

Re: Dragon opinion
I prefer the newer style myself, if I had to choose between the two. But I think it still needs some adjusting.

PS. It is better than anything I could come up with, but I think you could fine tune it a bit more...

I much prefer the viking horn claws. But also not liking the large horn.... maybe if it was a large horn and a small horn, it might look a little better.

I suppose I am the only one here who's ever seen Jurassic Park, or studied dinosaurs in any scholastic setting. The 'raptor' class of dinosaur (velociraptor, utahraptor), had huge claws on one toe of the back foot, which was raised higher on the foot than the other toes. This claw was used as a raking tool, to maim their prey. This is part of the reason why I included the large horn on the foot.

The other reason is that I only had the two toes, but I could not come up with a solution that was more streamlined than the old design. By adding that claw, I gave the back foot a third, front-facing toe.

If the claws are viking horns, and the large claw is a large horn, what is a small horn?Recluce wrote:I much prefer the viking horn claws. But also not liking the large horn.... maybe if it was a large horn and a small horn, it might look a little better.

I thought it might give the large claw a more "velociraptor" look.... it wasn't necesarily a long thin claw, it had more of a thicker part on the bottom... let me see if I can find a picture... http://osof.zeepost.nl/veloc.html that's the best I can do, and I do think that the claw I'm thinking of is more Utahraptor than any of the smaller species like the one on that page. THis one is closer: http://paleofree.ifrance.com/paleofree/ ... raptor.jpg The claw tapers to a point, whereas the lego long horn piece does not; its pretty much the same. I though adding a small claw to it would fill it out a bit, and might make it look more tapered. Does that at all make sense? If the claws are viking horns, and the large claw is a large horn, what is a small horn?Recluce wrote:I much prefer the viking horn claws. Oh, ok, so you're saying add a viking horn to the bottom of the larger horn, laying it flush with the inside of the large horn's curve, to make the horn seem thicker at the base... hmm... I'm not sure how possible that is with the current design, but it certainly is something to play around with. Thanks for the suggestion!Recluce wrote:I thought it might give the large claw a more "velociraptor" look.... it wasn't necesarily a long thin claw, it had more of a thicker part on the bottom... let me see if I can find a picture... http://osof.zeepost.nl/veloc.html that's the best I can do, and I do think that the claw I'm thinking of is more Utahraptor than any of the smaller species like the one on that page. To tell the truth that was my first idea, that shape of a claw, and so I tried building such a claw from slopes and plates. Being unsuccessful, I went with the easy out.

Personally, I don't care. It looks good both ways. We all know Anthony's dragon building skill surpasses any of ours.
Respectfully submitted,

How is it that you're attaching that large claw? I can't really tell from that first image you gave us.
