Falcon Gate

Post by architect »

Hi Everyone,

I recently uploaded pictures of my modular Falcon Gate that I made this summer.

Everyone who has K10039 "Castle Collection" and a few common bricks can make a Falcon Gate for themselves.
You can also make these three other moc's with those pieces:

Questions and comments are welcome

Awsome Ben.

It really looks like a lego "set." Was that what you were going for?

Actually I wasn't. I was trying to make a subset - a model made with the pieces of another set. I like my moc, but I dont think that it is good enough to be a real set. But then again, I have very high standards :D

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you like the gate.

Ben,

I finally finished it. :D

I made a few mods here and there and although you can't see it, the backside has more floor space on the 2nd level, if you know what I mean. I also made some mods to the portcullis so it doesn't pop out when you lower it or lift it.

Thanks for the instructions and I encourage others to build it. It's very cool. :)

Hi Jose,

It is really cool when people build my moc's from the instructions. Thanks! :D I like what you did with the archer tower. I look forward to more pictures.

Nice building. I really like the look of the permanant stone walls with the wooden building on top. It must be war time! Keeps would usually build the wooden protection on top before enemies arrived.

Ben,

Here are the pictures:

Which you already saw.

Anyways, I'll give you a run down of the mods I made.

1. The timber home atop the tower became an archer tower.

2. I made teh gate a bit stronger.

3. I added 3 beds, a kitchen, and a weapons cachee.

4. As you can see I also added floors to the gate and added a ladder.

5. The gate mechanism is also a bit different:

Hi Jose,

Thanks for the additional photos. I like many of the changes. For the most part, the more detailed interiors look better than mine. I would like to point out that I limited myself to using pieces from the "castle collection" and red bricks (actually, the whole moc can be made if you use white bricks for the timber frame infill). Usually my moc's have more details. I like how you have improved the gate :D

This is a very neat creation, it's very different than most Gates that you see. I like how it's not perfectly symmetrical, and I think the detail in both of of your guys' versions are great.

Not to say anything bad about this one, but the City Gate is still my favorite, there is just something that I really like about it. ;)

Thanks for sharing that with everyone. It is especially nice to know that we can take some standard sets and know we have the parts to make the variation. I'm not long on "attaboy" messages unless I have something specific to add to the discussion, but...attaboy! :D
Redwine the Ribald: Stare long enough into the abyss...
Two-Tonic Tippler: ...and you spit into it.

That's why I don't often respond to all the MOC posts, but work like this deserves some praise even if it has been said before. Instructions like this are hard work, I know, I tried and failed. Great work Ben E. :D

i was wondering whatever happined to this set. i remember you guys posting it on lugnet.

wish i didnt need my castle collection for other projects. id so build this thing!

Have you considered replacing the portculis with a solid plate built gate? <perhaps fronted with tiles like the forestman's river fortress>

You creations are really nice and cool Ben :D . They look like sets. It's exactly the kind of things I like. I guess they can connect together, and with 6074 for example.
