Your favourite CCC III MOCs

Post by Blueandwhite »

Now that CCC III has finally come to a close, I was wondering what MOCs truly impressed you? This year was by far and away the best year for the CCC contest, with strong entries in every category. Still, for every AFOL there a few MOCs that really stand out. What were your favorites?

Now, I know the contest has yet to be graded, but I feel that this question is better asked before members see the final results. Many great MOCs go completely ignored once the results are in. So before that, how about discussing your top three. What MOCs were truly special for you in 2005?

Hi!

I think there are some very well designed entries and I would be very hard to judge.

We should wait with this discussion until the winners are nominated. I don't want to affect the jury.

regards,

I agree with that, I find it very hard to judge.
There are so many good entries!
So again Bravo for the creators, and of cours for the admins

Well, my favorite custom would have to be "Crusader Knight - Bianco Leone" by armothe. The only problem is, I can only see the thumbnail image from the entry list. However, it appears to be my favorite entry for that category.

From the Castle Room Interior category, I would have to say that "Assassination in the Study" by Mark Stafford takes first place as my favorite for that category. The entire room is remarkable and seems to be alive.
Other than those, I have a hard time choosing a favorite moc for the other categories; there were so many great entries.

My personal favorite MOCs of the contest are...

Hey... wait a minute! You're trying to get hints out of me! Well I'm not gonna fall for that one!

Yep..., I mean, um... no, that's not it. I didn't enter this year (I was too lazy  ).

Seriously, I think its great to talk about these MOCs before the winners take centre stage. There are alot of building techniques and details that undoubtedly stand out to different people that will probably be overlooked once the final results are in.

For example, I really like the porticulus on Jim's Castle Bleydenstein. The use of black teeth (presumably from 7015 (Fenris Wolf)) at the base of the gate is such a simple solution that adds alot to the standard brick-built porticulus. Still, this is a small detail that many people will probably ignore if Jim's MOC doesn't win.

This is a great opportunity to talk about some amazing MOCs that will undoubtedly be overlooked by many builders. Make yourself heard (except you admins of course  ); share a few highlights before the focus is exclusively on the winning entries.

Later.

Already got one- I hadn't seen Castle Bleydenstein yet! I'd have to go with my first Dwarf's throwing-axe sling in the Custom Figure Category, and the use of flesh-tones in the picture frame of the assasination entry was great. All-around a good job by all builders!

Well, I have to say the first thing that popped into my head when I read the question was Stone Goblin's Scorpion Throne Room :)

My personal favorites are,
Seige scene, When Black Falcons attack I really liked the way the hoarding was made especially on the tower over all a very realistic medieval seige (wish I had that many archers!!!) :)
Medieval Life, well I'd have to say either Vladeks dark Bakery for it's humor or the Adventurers Supply Shop. :?
For the vehicles catagory, the Mosae galley is the one I thought was most well designed(I love the brick built sails!!!) :D
Miscellaneous, the Keep really caught my eye but there are a few things I would change like the stairs at the top look like they need some sort of support underneath them
Castle, now this one is hard to decide but I think that the castle in the sand really looks good (wish I had that many tan bricks) :)
Vikings, well the only thing that compares with the meeting house, according to me, is the stave church, both of them are very realistic and historical :)
Castle room interior, the one I like best is actually the storeroom for it's overall simplicity.
Classic Castle, the forestmens palisade takes the cake for this catagory I had thought of making something of this sort for a long time but I was always hampered by lack of peices anyhow you all know what I like from that catagory. :D
Custom Castle Figure, I'd say that the figures by Armothe are the best but there are a few other ones I'd like to comment on, Will Scarlet is very well done and overall very realistic, ( I'm sure you all could guess by now that I'm a history fan),
and then Leratz centaur warrior really looks like the best centaur I've seen yet, (got off the history track for a second there,)
anyhow that ends my list of favorites.
"The lad parried it, and leaping back, struck at the horse's leg. The animal fell instantly, and as he did so Archie struck full on the helm of Sir John Kerr" Excerpt from, In Freedoms Cause by G.A Henty

Historical Viking

Post by BrickHouse »

I think the "Yggdrasil, The World Tree" is historically accurate, and moreover, true to the mythology. Especially if we consider the care taken to the helmet. Viking helmets were either unadorned or with wings. It has good care to detail. It's hard to see in the submission photos, but there are decent extra pics for closer examination.

After much thought and conisderation my favorite would be...

Fortress Del Pescatore by Jacob Cournoyer

His work is amazing. I could spend hours in his Bshelf looking at his creations. In my opinion his castles are very realistic, which is what makes a good MOC.

Coming up second for its playability:

Graynar's Dragon Castle
Image

Being that Graynar is a friend of mine, and I enjoy his small MOCs, I chose this one as my #2.
