The wall I made above was as far as I could bend it with out having the blocks pop out of place.Sir Terrance wrote:I also look at this and think 'cut bricks' or even 'sanded edges' but a few members in my LUG can curve 1x2's quite tight without modifying any bricks. I think it just puts the bricks under a LOT of stress.CAI wrote: Unless there is a technique here i'm not aware of...I call cut bricks! If that is the case...i'm not so impressed. I wish that's not the case.
Oh well. Any ideas.

Yep, and more then a few couldn't be used in a row with the lack of studs on top. So it count's that out to.Sir Terrance wrote:Wow, we must have typed at the same time, I just went to view my post and saw your theory...The Hag wrote:I think i have an idea.. not sure but ....
Those cannot be all 2x1's , the gaps between them are too big .. i think he uses these :
so he doesnt need 2 studs to fit, and thus can make a sharper angle.
The only problem I can see with this is that panel still has the same square edge at the base like a 1x2 creating the stress problem.

Hello!
The Castle was built by Jürgen Bramigk. After Christmas he had some days off, and he used them to build something for the annual meeting in Frechen.
The curved wall and the hanseatic houses are built by Andreas Boeker. The curved wall is built with 1x2 bricks and some brick-hinges (the ones that consist mainly of 1x2 bricks). Inside it's almost massive. Otherwise the stress would let the whole construction burst. The bricks are not cut at the edges, but they certainly will suffer from this treatment.
Bye

Yes.The Hag wrote:Wouldnt this piece work for those kinda curves ?
It would also prevent any damage being done to the 1x2 bricks. Unfortunately, if you use that wedged brick in tandem with a bunch of 1x2 bricks, the wall will be considerably less stable. Only half of the studs will actually lock in place. Still, if you have a few hundred of these, it definitely would be an option.
To add stability, use and . By making every second level a series of hinge bricks, you can add greater stability to your curve. The hinges should alternate between levels. This should allow you to create sharper curves without doing any damage to your bricks. Using approx 8-10 wedged 2x3 bricks in a row, you should be able to create a 90 degree curve.
Later.

Aha! mystery solved. It's good to have eye's and ears around the world. I'm glad to here they're not cut, but it's a technique i'd never consider. That has to be a tremendous amount preasure.Jojo wrote:Hello!

I'd like to see a picture from behind the curve, has to be complex.
Cheers.
