Aslingarde Keep

Post by Scnicker »

Hey there everyone,
Here is my laters MOC. It's built on a 64x64 baseplate and took 10 hours to build in total. (Different sections were built in different days). I'm quite pleased with the end result. Now a little history on the building as always:

Image

This keep or chateau(as some people prefer to say) was built by Baron Lorendare's ancestors. You might wonder:"Who is Baron Lorendare?" Well he is the decendant of the wealthy and powerful Lorendare Family. Rolam Lorendare's father helped the king many times before and was chosen as the champion of the kingdom. Anyways, the ones who remember my Monastery will see the before-hand pictures of some characters before the corruption. So here are the pictures:

And of course Herod (Talking with Freak's Custom "Stable Keeper" ;) ):

And the whole gallery:

You guys may wonder about the title of the gallery, well, I built to honor my ex-girlfriend. Anyways, take care everyone.

Neat MOC! I like the curved wall on the two front buildings, makes the keep very distinctive. Also the color scheme stands out. You don't see a lot of MOCs built in gray and red. Great job, sir!

Thanks guys, only few seem to appreciate my efforts but anyways. I'm extremely fond of the santis euro armor eventhough many people find it and the other armors "useless". And also there is one spray painted to gray danju armor there and I must say it looks quite nice. Anyways, thanks for the comments, really appreicated.

Looks good, but you might get more castle if you make the outer walls not so thick. Just s suggestion, but otherwise looks good.

How is this? I enjoy a lot of your MOCs, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. As to this recent MOC, I'm amazed. This: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1576525 is probably my favorite picture. Did you impliment Sava's octagonal tower design for this corner? If so, you did a good job. Your colors, and building were very well done.

Looking carefully now, I believe that your idea is nice. I would only change the design of the walls to something less plain. Also, you made a good angle on the outer walls.

Shadow-I was expecting the Sava comment, but No. The corners were built before seeing the Ulmaris Castle and before the post about octagonal towers so I just handled them myself :) And thanks for the feedback.

Brickboy- I don't get what you mean by "getting more castle". Can you enlighten me on that?

Moroder- Strange but... I love big gray walls. They seem more appealing and realistic somehow.

Shadow- If you look at my other MOCs, you can see that I don't use a lot of curves. Most of my structures are rectangular/square. I've decided to try something different this time; and I'm quite pleased.

I like this keep....has it's own unique shape to it.
Those curved corner towers are nice.
I've never seen partially curved towers at one angle like that before. Really cool.
I also like how the entrance is raised up off the ground too, good for defense.
I love big gray walls. They seem more appealing and realistic somehow.
Yes, I don't like walls less than 4 studs thick...it's too thin.
Your walls seem to be at an ideal thickness.

Oh, I agree. However, I was talking about the design of the walls, but Scnicker is right. A big plain wall looks very realistic. I just like the details on the walls  .

Ooh-Royal Knights! I love it! Awesome coloures, set-out and I like all the foliage and trees. Great Job! I hope to one day actually make something as good as this.

I really like this. The curved wall is wonderful, and I like the balcony thing with the brown heads. Is it built in bley? If so, I like it even more! :D

Thanks everyone :D Anyways, the building is built in bley color, but there are some old gray pieces here and there. With more than 3000 bley bricks, I have no other choice :). I don't mind the color change as many people know. Keep the comments coming.
