From the thumbnail, it almost looked like your Guarded Blacksmith was guarded by lazer turrets, and I was fully prepared to pummel you back into the middle ages (figuratively and literraly speaking)
Glad I was wrong! Very nice, very nice indeed. I especially love the interior, but all the details are very well done. I love the forge and the blacksmith pounding on red hot iron. I only have one nit-pick - aren't the colors reversed on the smoke coming out of the chimneys? Shouldn't it be black at the source turning a lighter color as the smoke disperses? Or am I wrong on that?
In any case, very well done! I'd love to see it in a greater medieval city setting.

Give a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day.
Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Very cool. That blacksmit must be good to have all those clients.
Just noticed Anthony beat me for like a second.

You know you're a good person when you see megablocks and have to do things you would rather not.

My favorite part is the use of the wrench as tongs to hold the red-hot metal. I also like the unique shape of the building. My only negative thought was that I'd hate to be one of the guards on a windy day... it would be hard to see with that smoke in the face.

Very nice! Of course, I have thing for blacksmith shops. I like the guards, the built in shop outside and forge inside. The red hot metal is a great idea, I haven't seen that before.
Two smallish nitpicks. I really like how you made smoke but it doesn't go with this MOC. I have some experience blacksmithing and there should never be that much smoke. Usually the forge is so hot that there is little or no smoke, just really hot air coming out of the stack. The coal fire has to be extremely hot to make the steel workable and that tends to incinerate all smoke. The other issue is the chains all over the floor. No smith in his right mind allows stuff like that between him and the fire, too much potential for tripping, falling into fire, etc. But all of this can be explained away, if your smith isn't very experienced.
Other than those two technical points, this is an awesome MOC! I really like it, keep up the great work!

I really like the use of the non-square baseplate[s]

I'm not sure too, but I think you have right.I only have one nit-pick - aren't the colors reversed on the smoke coming out of the chimneys? Shouldn't it be black at the source turning a lighter color as the smoke disperses? Or am I wrong on that?
It's Jojo's idea, you can see it here.My favorite part is the use of the wrench as tongs to hold the red-hot metal.
I don't know about this. I will rememberI really like how you made smoke but it doesn't go with this MOC. I have some experience blacksmithing and there should never be that much smoke. I always imagine blachmith with chain on the floor. Mayby it isn't "real", but i like it.The other issue is the chains all over the floor. No smith in his right mind allows stuff like that between him and the fire, too much potential for tripping, falling into fire, etc.
Thanks

Awesome little Moc.
I like how you made the cobbled stone walk way out front. Looks really good.
I like the big fire place or furnace too.
This blacksmith shop has a really unique shape to it also.
It would fit well cornered up against other buildings in a larger town Moc.
Very good!

Ahhh... you've done it again! It's always interesting to see what town MOC you'll come out with next, and this one is a good as the ones before it. I really love the roof tiles - it has a great Medieval look.
Really cool.
I'm not sure about the whole smoke thing (althogh I guess there probally should be less of it), but for what it's worth, I actually do like that touch - it adds some action and extra life to the MOC.
Well done -
I was going to note this too - I really like the street around the blacksmith - it goes a long way in adding feeling to the MOC - as do all the shoppers walking around outside.Jacob C. wrote:I like how you made the cobbled stone walk way out front. Looks really good.
