Treasure Room

Post by Sheen »

This is my first MOC (well the first MOC I'm not too embarrassed by!). I would truly appreciate any constructive critism so that I can learn to improve. (Comments on building, photography/images, use of bricksehlf, etc all appreciated!)

This is the self-proclaimed king of an un-named evil-type faction that has just stormed the castle of the rightful king. After disposing of the guards he has finally found the treasure room of legend and tossing aside his instruments of war grabbed up fistfuls of coins and precious gems.

This was the first time I've tried a few techniques so if some things appear uncessesary in this particular MOC it is mostly due to some need to experiment, such as the smoothed tops of the walls even though I have no second floor or roof to set on top :) Those are also almost all of the tile pieces I own so I was unable to make a pretty, smooth floor due to lack of LEGO.

I like it. You captured the feel of a treasure room very well, IMO. My only suggestion would be to scatter the treasure a little more: maybe put a few goblets on their sides in other piles, and leave some of the 1x1's off of the studs.

I look forward to seeing more! :)

I agree that this is pretty well done. I also like how you made a king out of totally unrelated torso, head and etc. It makes it a better MOC because of it... I'm a little unsure as to why the scorpian shield is there, but no one ever said all trophies were made of gold... especially from the battlefield!

Nice MOC - I like it very much.

Heh, to be honest I meant to turn the shield around so you couldn't see the design but forgot. It would have also looked as if he just tossed it away from him. C'est la vie. Even though I thought I looked it over at least a dozen times before I took pictures it seems I still missed something!

What a great first MOC! I don't see any glaring problems, you captured the feel very well. My favorite detail is the stacks of "coins". Keep up the good work!

hi,
The whole chamber is cool but was really gets me is that you put a lot of lamps in there so the person could see. Not very many people think to do that. In fact, I probably dont use them as much as I should...
Thanks, Thomas
