I don't have a huge number of castle-related minifigs - somewhere around 100. With that said, the last time I built a large castle-type structure, it was probably 5-6 years ago, and I had to combine many castle wall pieces with BURPs, and significant amounts of black, brown, yellow.

Since then, I've purchased sets for the purposes of getting parts. I've accumulated a lot of grey and I might be able to pull of a Ulmaris. :)

I've been wondering how big I can build - especially if I can learn to make good use of all my 2x2 & 2x4 light grey bricks! But first, gotta clean up my LEGO room...

In some ways I feel a little silly to say this, but I have only collected sets until now, with the thought/idea that each set would have enough of the basic bricks to build any MOCs I want to build in the future... I'm a little stubborn, so it's only recently that I've come to admit that this is turning out to be a "not-so-good" method...

Anyway, as such, here is my set listing, and therefore all of my bricks...

So in short, does the size of your brick collection match well with the size of your castle figure collection?
I think I have between 120 and 150 castle figures.
My brick collection matches quite well with my figure collection.
I have enough bricks to house all 150 and probably many more figures.
My only set back is my ever-constricting building table.

House them? Yeah, right!

I have a barracks that can house all nine of my black falcon soldiers. A stable for three of my eight or nine horses. An inn for six people. Siskind's Blacksmith shop, my bakery, and one other tiny house. a hevily modified OE dragon fortress with beds for three. twenty seats in the bar, which is where most of my other soldiers sleep.
No outhouses anywhere.

That leaves about twenty Royal Knights, Crusaders, and Dragon Masters out in the cold. Oh, well.

My castle collection is not quite adiquit. It is not as bad as some, but I cant fit all of my minifigs into my small castle. I guess the small the collection you have, the easier it is to house all of the guys. I think that guys who mostly bought the sets would have a lot more bricks than guys that buy stuff off of Bricklink or EBay. A lot of people just like the minifigs (I dont know why) but they have little to no castle or houses. I try to get an equal balance of guys and bricks. It is hard because I have to buy practically all of my stuff off of the internet. I think that people dont sell walls and bricks as much because they can get a lot more money for minifigs than they can for almost any brick. Anyway, as I was saying, I have a small collection and try to get enough walls and bricks and such to almost match the number of minifigs I get.

Well, to answer the original question, in a round-about way. You'd have to be specific as to the type of castle. I try to build most of my MOCs out of smaller-type pieces (bricks) rather than wall sections. I am very lucky to have alot of both, however. I also think, that put to the test here at CC, jsut about any piece can be used in a castle, as evidenced by things like the seed part challenges.

Anyways, my collection is rather large (albeit not as big as alot of folk here, but I'm not complaining). It's a god size for my living predicament right now, and it's enough to build bunches.

And as an encouragement to those who have alot smaller collection:

Please don't get discouraged. Legos are about creativity and fun. A large collection doesn't necissarily mean either of those, and in fact can sometimes hinder both.

Hi.

I've weighed my collection two years ago, after I've rebuild my largest castle up to now.

It was about 100 KG. I used the most of my lightgray bricks in the castle.

Now I've many bricks more, but I think, I can use just 40 - 60 % for castlebuildings, but I can't house all of my Minifigs. On day I want to build a castle for each of my faction...

The most of my bricks are in the colors lightgray, darkgray, black and tan.

I don't know whether I could build Ulmaris with my bricks. I've many of this wall-pieces. I like them, because the buildings get a 80's style.

regards,
jens

Castle walls are great for supporting structures (ie a mountain or hilltop. If you don't want your castle walls to show, but still want to utilize them, build supports to elevate whatever your building.

As for my own collection:

At this point, I have amassed a huge amount of grey. I'm not sure exactly how big my collection really is (at every opportunity, I would gather more grey bricks), but I probably have enough bricks to build Ulmaris. As I'm not a set collector, I look for large quantities of grey at a good price, rather than specific sets/minifigs.

Currently, I'm more focussed on collecting green plates and slopes in order to improve my landscaping. This is necessary in order to complete my next castle, which I hope is large enough to adequately house forty+. Unfortunately, even with my vast collection of bricks, I find that I simply don't have close to enough bricks to adequately house all of my minifigs. Accordingly, most of them still rest in a bucket.

Later.

I have thousands of minifigs, hundreds of weapons, and lots of bricks. However I create large sized MOCs, so I have very few actual creations as my MOCs take up a lot of pieces.

Blueandwhite wrote:It seems like alot of Classic-Castle members have acquired an impressive collection of castle minifigs. Many of you have hundreds and hundreds of soldiers, villiagers and forestmen.

What I'm wondering is, how big is your actual castle collection? I'm not talking about sets per-se, but about your collection of castle-useful elements. Do you have enough bricks to properly house your armies, or do your armies dwarf the size of your physical collection?

I mean, several builders like Anthony have built castles which would be adequate for a large seige. So in short, does the size of your brick collection match well with the size of your castle figure collection?

Later.
Very small (compared to everyone else's) :)

Castle Homes

My current project will house about 500 castle figs -- and if I ever get the space to build the town and forest area, I can bunk another 2-300 or so.

About 80% of my collection is castle-useful, but as you can see time and time again here at CCC -- just about any part can look good on someone's creation!

Anyway, for me, I like to have all of the aspects of a castle necessary to support the troops I thow in there. So, lots of barracks, kitchens -- that sort of thing.

Hmm.. I have, right now, about 49 people in the Champions army(including gnomes) . The bad guy army is a little smaller but some of it is Megabloks so that does not count. I have one small castle (by which I mean "area surrounded by stone wall").
