An airship. Most fantasy airships i've read about or seen use 'magic crystals' or some other sort of ridiculous power to keep them afloat. Mine isn't much better, but I like the concept more. A giant furnace heats two balloons. I used a traded mis-molded mast part thanks Josh! there- it fit the diagonally rotated furnace better.
You'll just have to wait till it's public- there's too many pictures for me to deeplink.

Neet MOC. I've always been bugged by those 'magical' crystals, and like how you tried to go for a more 'realistic' approach. However, my favorite part of this is the bow portion of the keel. That spiny section sticking out gives it alot of character!
Great job.
(side note: would this thread belong better in the general lego section?)

I've been looking forward to seeing this ever since you posted the WIP pics on Sly Piggery! You have not disappointed me. Excellent work! The balloons are a great concept.

Ooh, me likey!
I have always liked airships of any type, and this is no exception. I like the gritty colors of gray, brown and black, and I like all the greeblie bits, too. The attention to detail is great. One thing that I don't like: the size of the bags. They're tiny! There's no way they could hold up a ship that size. I'd reccomend using the same SNOT technique and make the bags bigger.
Anyway, good work!

I really like airships, as I like teh ability to make them look spac-ish (little bit) steampunk, or basic mideval (fantasy mideval).
The balloons are nice...yet a bit small, like Nathan said.
The whole shape is great, and I like all the wings and ropes everywhere (very fantasy mideval like) and the business of the ship, but the deck looks a tad empty.
Great stuff.

Sweet airship! Glad to have contributed in a small way.
Josh
PS. The custom dwarf you traded to me likes the airship too. He wishes he still lived with you, so he could ride in it...

Neat idea, but if you are going for realism, those balloons have to be WAY bigger.

How big do you want...?
This one's probably more like what you want:

Aside from bag size, this is a good idea and fabulous construcion. the details are amazing. My favorite part has to be the fold-out deck in the stern. It's a crazy idea, but it worked out really well.

This is really great. I've been meaning to comment since I first saw this, but I kept getting distracted. You have done well with the balloons, but I agree with some that they are too small. Another thing that I liked was the figurehead, it's cool .

Learning French.
Say it "ESS-MICK-GIN-ISS", with a hard "G", as in "get".
I'm a Pumpkin.

Me too. This is a really nice creation that makes a clever medieval fantasy. Great design, cool and realistic color scheme and the thing I like the most: the engines (ballons). I agree, it's small, but it's still a good idea.smcginnis wrote:This is really great. I've been meaning to comment since I first saw this, but I kept getting distracted.
