Bravo Goblin! Image

Aye, unless Jens shows up with his LOTR porpotion horde I believe we have found our winner

For the sports may be? Realistically one should know where he stands even before entering the contest, first place was never really a feasible target for me even from the start. I always found in contest like this those who have more bricks will end up with more bricks, the natural order of things. Perhaps more "sporting spirit" awards should be given out to encourage the aspiring young builders

Here is my entry:

Lion Knights vs Dark Wizard

An evil wizard has caused a plague to spread across the Crusader's lands. In an effort to free their land from his darkness, the lion knights make a last ditch charge on the wizard's tower, but the wizard is up to his usual spell casting tricks and the battle isn't going so well...

The wizard laughing at the chaos he created below
Ambushed by the wizard's fire breathing monkeys
Distracted by apparitions of fair maidens
The beautiful maidens
We want ... a shrubbery!
Mounted knights having difficulties
Did it just get cold out here?
Carrots away!....I mean arrows!....I mean, what happened to my bow?
The whole battle

Interesting point.

Those who do have more bricks may not necessarily create a large scene. They may have enough of the 'right' kind of piece in order to elevate the sophistication of their entry. So an entry should not win on size or exotics alone, though effort ought to be appreciated. If it's simply a big mass of figures without individual fig posture considerations, then that will not draw favor in a contest of this sort.

The contest is teetering somewhere between favoring those who collect, and those with great imagination in using what they have.

Exactly! It is an opportunity for the army collectors to show off their stuff, which was the original intent of this contest last year. However, it has developed into a contest of fig posing. Personally, I favor those who do great things with what they have. I am not concerned with size. Last year , the three biggest entries happened to win, but that was only because they had the best detail and fig posing. Nathan, you still have a chance, get your entry in now!

Hi all,

tis is my entry, it's a battle above lava on a vulcano or something. My sigfig and some vikings fight the evil lion knights/crusaders. Some comical things are added to, like the guy on fire. And you'll might see someone who has faced the lava before.

Enjoy!

Wolfpack cheif, great use of some otherwise non-castle parts. Tanotrooper, since you don't have very many figs in there, maybe a smaller scene with the same people would give it more action.

??? :? ???

it is already a small scene... The Vikings run away from the lava, and the sigfig is forced to fight against all of the crusaders because of the lava behind him. That's good action, right???

Oh, it's good action, but I meant you could make it look like you had a lot more people if you used a smaller (almost vig-like) base, with the same amount of people, closer together. I like it anyway though.

The Lions vs. Ka Lu and their allies.

The Ka Lu are a formidable jungle tribe in the southern regions in my castle story world. They are cannibals and enslave other tribes to fight with them in battle. You may notice the Jar-jar heads on the Ka Lu. These heads are from a deer-like creature and worn as a representation of their manhood and warrior prowess (I found a use for those darn things!!!). Also, I wanted to find a use for dobby's, jar jar, and the SW pig men torsos. So this would increase my castle factions with non-castle torsos.

The Lions in this scene are in the unfortunate position to be ambushed during an extended expedition to seek allies for the Lions-Mosae war.

This project was completed passively over the span of about two weeks. My brother pitched in with ideas and some piecing together of the scenery. Photographing took about two or three days, as I had to reposition all of the figures for about twelve or so different stages of action. Hopefully the pictures you see in the gallery are in chronological order so you can see how events unfolded. 2 pages worth. Enjoy :)

Awsome, that must've taken a lot of planning! :)

Wolf Pack Chief, thats one hilarious battle! All the confusion and chaos- everything from tree polymorph to knights being swapped from their mount and armor, fire-breathing monkeys of the exotic kind, etc... I like that. :D

And gobby's battle is really impressive, the bamboo forest is awesome, and I love the creative use of Jar Jar. 8)

I'm sorry. I have to disappoint you. I'm again short of time, so I have to miss this contest.

Last year I said I would create an entry with only a few Minifigs. Here is my unfinished idea:

The pictures are not so good (its after midnight here and I have some problems with the light), sorry. One more reason why I don't enter this year.

I would do much better next time (I hope there will be a next time Josh?).
