It really depends on how large around the tower is. If you are using the round panel/walls, like from HP sets, then the rounded staircases that also came in a lot of HP sets take up a large amount of the space, and you don't need floors till the top. If I don't have any round plates I just stagger my plates so overall they look fairly rounded. You can stagger a whole stud, or use step plates and go half a stud everytime, depending. This also helps at the top when you want to build bricks on it, because the plates are already set up staggered, so the bricks siting on top of them will also overall look like a rounded tower.
Lately I've been experimenting with this as an entire tower, a simelar technique was used on a much larger scale in this picture (MOCs by Christophe Bongay) http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/cbole ... 005002.jpg

That's what I meant by staggered. I hope this helps, probably much mroe than you wanted to know. Anyways, leg-godt!

I don't use any round plates in my Sword Tower. Somewhere down around the middle of the page, I discuss how I created the floor.

As Drucifer demonstrates, you can make a round shape by building a wall out of a pattern of 1x3 bricks and 1x1 cylinders and wrapping it back on itself. You can make an even tighter radius with 1x2 bricks and 1x1 cylinders (as demonstrated here in levwal3's lighthouse). However, I've played with that idea myself and found it to be less sturdy than the larger circle in Drucifer's tower. If you've got a ton of 1x2 bricks you can make a much bigger circle just by forcing a wall of these back on itself (as demonstrated in Adrian Drake's Tribunal - I don't know of a specifically castle application of this off hand).

You can hide the holes with some 2x3 plates sticking inward, like in the image below.ZIGGY! wrote:Drucifer-I`ve now read what peice yo used, but doesn`t it leave holes on the edge?
It's hard to tell from the images, but my floor is really a mess of plates that tries to get as close to the wall as possible. The 2x3 plates sticking inward then just cover up the gaps. It's not 100% covered, but it looks good.

Round towers eh?
I've built two thus far:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=130084
My second one is slightly ovular in shape and it opens up:

I think there's some floor shots in there of both of em.

I totally agree with this
