I've always liked this folder of minifigs, and your latest additions are great. The red wizard is great! Mainly, though, I'm jealous of your rare parts. :D

Thanks for all the comments you have left.

Yes, I can't hide, I like rare pieces. I got them all from bricklink, some bricks a long time ago.

The red Wizard hat is red, not darkred. Maybe I've use the lightning next time better. It wasn't easy to find, I searched a long time for.

The torso from the red Wizard is from set 7419 Dragon Frortress

Image

In my knowledge the other parts don't come from any sets:
- black chinese pike
- red wizardhat
- red shield ovoid
- green bandana
- purple helmet
- purple danjutorso
- black beard
- red fabuland axe

By the way, here is a Minifig I've forgotten:
Image

I wanted to know, where the guys get these rare pieces from too, but they don't share this informations.

Bevor buying a rare part there is the uncertainty whether it will come with a set in the next months or not. I've buyed some bricks for a high price and a few month later a new set contained it...

So keep on hunting

regards,
jens

Great figs! My favorites are the wizard, the mongolian and the nubian, the wizard got a fantastic colorscheme!

A fellow wierd color-collector in training here, I bought a white vampire hair (it just screamed "make an anime character out of me!").

As for where people get them, I did hear from some Lego employee that they are from prototype sets or simply mistakes produced and gone traveling through bricklink that way- Lego employees got the right to "get the trash" free, I guess.

As for the Jayko-guy, where did you get a non-printed armor and the round shield? You do not list them so what sets are they from?

Thank you.

The round shield is from 8012 - Super Battledroid

The Jayko-Armor without print wasn't in any set, but there are so many seller on bricklink, I don't thought about it, when I was listing the other parts.

The green bandana is from an official set: 6071 Forestmen's Crossing. It is on the rare "forestwoman" figure.

You collection of rare pieces is nice. I also collect a few castle items like these.

I think the term rag wrap is a poor name for that type of hat. Americans use the term bandanna mainly for a head wrap than a neckerchief. That is why I misinterpreted your post.

From wikipedia:

A bandanna (from the Hindi bandhana, "to tie") is a type of large, usually colourful, kerchief, usually used as head gear.

Great minifigs Jens !
And also nice to see you using all these special pieces, instead of just collecting and storing them.

Thanks Jens,

It looks like we're all in the same boat, except you have the rare peices.

I find this very interesting. I know some other members here have rare pieces like Jojo's red ghost and someone has a brown beard at Brick testament.

I'd like to see a thread, maybe a mod or admin can make it sticky, for all the members who have rare pieces to post pictures of them and as much info as they can share. Maybe even a little more detective work.

Like a catalogue of rare pieces. We can marvel at and place bids(not so much, just for info purposes)

Cheers.

That's an interesting idea. I would be more than willing to share the information I have on mine.

Unfortunately, both Peeron and Bricklink refer to that element as a rag. Both are technically bandanas, however it wouldn't make alot of sense to give both elements the same name. I also have a tendency to mix these two elements up as I call both a 'neckerchief' and a 'dew rag' bandanas.

Still, these non-set elements are quite cool. Too bad I don't have the extra scratch to fork over for such rare items.

Later.

Green bandana: $0.35 on Bricklink
Black beard: $2.95
Black pike: $1.00
Red axe: $0.04 (!)
Red ovoid shield: $9.00

Red hat last went for $3.00, purple helmet went for $10.00, and I don't feel like trying to find the Danju torso so it's still possible to get some of these for a pretty good price. This was not to diminish Jens collection (which is awesome). Just wanted to let people know they could get in on the fun.

I also agree it would be awesome to start a list of unusual pieces that aren't from sets. The red axes and black pikes both took my interest due to their color so I second (or third or whatever) the idea.

That is the nice thing about these pieces...they really aren't that expensive. My green helmet is a bit spendy. It is going for $15 on bricklink right now, but even that can be done.

Josh

PS. If we are going to compile a list of rare (not in any set) pieces, then we should probably start a new thread. I don't want to highjack Jens' thread, but the problem is that I can't decide which forum is best for something like this. :)
