My army is curently a max of about 280[pretty pathetic compared to some of you guys].They are divided into two factions Orcs and Leo's men.I have about 180 in my orc army and 100 in my Leos.Could you guys possibly post some links to other large armies?

For some it's just the fun of it. Quantity is a quality of its own. Having large armies of about 1,000 or at least 500 is more realistic IMO. I mean look at history, real life Ancient and Medieval armies are numbered in the thousands.Reejoc wrote:I've never really seen the point in amassing huge numbers of minifigs. It's impossible to play with them after a certain quantity and if you use them for decorating castles/scenes then the max is usually 50-100 before it looks too crowded. And if you simply have them sitting around on display then why have them?
Not just in the history books, but in Hollywood as well. Battle scenes like Lord of the Rings, HERO, Gladiator, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, Narnia, and etc. would not looks so awesome (or believable for that matter) if it only had 100 -vs- 100.
Not as of yet. I don't plan on doing anything like that anytime soon as most of my troops remain unequipped. I still have to buy thousands of helmets, build or create thousands of shields, as well as weapons. I also need hundreds of horses, and large amounts of bricks for each of my 34 factions' fortresses, outposts, towns, and cities. And those are just the ones on Earth...NeilMartin wrote: JPinoy, do you display your army at public shows? To see 6,200 soldiers would be worth travelling from the UK (not sure if my wife would agree!).

I know exactly what you mean Jpiny. For me there is just somin about seeing a large army of soldiers standing in lines that gives me an adrenalin rush.lol.i was thinking of making an army of Gauls but the problem is most of there armies were not uniformed.Armies dont look so [impressive] if they are not uniformed to some degree.

I know exactly how you guys feel. I feel the same way about rare pieces. And while I am not an army builder, I can appreciate the time and effort you put into your armies. Keep it up!
Josh
PS. It would be cool to see list of links to all the major army builders...

I think sir-boris, wlister, and troy t. moore have the most impressive armies personally.
I only have a little over 100 figs myself, you can see pics here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=146507

I hate it when people have more men than me! It makes us jealousssssss!
Y'know, we should get evveryone together and have a massive lego battle! I mean massive! One thing that scared me was Jpinoy's way of storing armies that means multiple armies! Help!

Beware the day my soul is unleashed. Not even Megablocks itself will rival its fire!
I would do that, but during the clean up, I'd be gone with a few thousand excess minifigs.Lord Nev wrote:I hate it when people have more men than me! It makes us jealousssssss!

I wish I had an army that big. My minifig collection was just going over 200 when I last checked.

Yah, it makes me jelous to I have a lot of figs, just not as many as these guys
I have a exactly 24 Black Falcons, with blue-rimmed shields and spears. I estimate I have somewhere in the area of 1500 figures in my collection. Possibly more, possibly less.
That's my largest castle "army" by far. I would like some more (50 would be nice) but I'm not aiming for it especially. My 24 works well enough for most models I create - If I build larger, I'll get more. I don't see a need to spend large (and often ridiculous) amounts of money for figures which won't be used. I'd prefer to spend the money on more bricks, plates, and useful pieces for building larger & better models. I view the figures as accessories to the actual MOC.
