That is aneat little build with a lot of style. I like the height of the tower. It is also good to see that someone else builds in balcony romances...

God Bless,

Nathan

Hey, this is a great tower!
I love the working crane/lift.
The balconies, the vines crawling up the structure, and the romance scene are all splendid.
I also like how the roof is built and how it connects to the top.
Building roofs for circular or polygonal structures is always a chore.

Too bad he didn't furnish the interior.

Sweet design though! The kind of odd-stud stuff I suck at.

That is really cool. I like the architecture, and the foliage makes it seem "lived in". The crane lifting the pallet of barrels is a nice touch.

Hello.

I am quite surpised that you have spotted my little tower! Thank you for such nice comments, I am glad you like it.

This is my second MOC after almost 20 years of dark age. I was just trying some simple SNOT techniques and that's how the roof was made :-) Then, I had to build something that could fit under it and so - tada! - here it is :-)

PS. Long time lurker, first time poster, finally had a reason to register :-) so: hi to everyone, great forum!

Welcome to CC! Glad that Bruce could drag you in from the dark. :) That is a great tower, very elegant. Interesting that you built the roof first. I always build my towers from the ground up and then have trouble with the top. Maybe I will have to try it this way.

Hey Hippoatm,

Welcome to the light! I'm glad this thread flushed you out. I really like the way you used SNOT to build up the tower. Are the white Studs-On-Top sections attached to the black SNOT framework, or are they held by gravity? Lots of great details in this, like for instance the way you worked the hinging mechanism on the front door into being a decorative detail. Amazing that this is your second public MOC coming out of your dark ages.

Hey Hippoatm, welcome to CC!!! Also, welcome to the 'enlightenment' from your dark ages. I'm sure glad you broke out the legos and made this MOC.

The whole tower is great! I like the SNOT use and all the details, like foliage and the crane. The balcony is also cool and the whole tudor look is very well executed. Your second MOC out of your dark ages you say? Gosh dern good for that! Keep it up, I'll watch for more of your stuff.

What does SNOT stand for? And I forgot the others, but what do they stand for too?

Nice tower Hippotam!

Well, gravity always helps a lot, but no one having a curious three-year-old kid should rely on it :-), so: Each wall section is attached to the upper SNOT ring by 2x1 plates with center stud, and to the bottom ring by 1/2 technic pins, or a headlights bricks (when I ran out of pins)

The only ones I've seen in this thread are:
  • MOC. Stands for My Own Creation.
  • SNOT. Stands for Studs Not On Top.
  • CC. Stands for Classic-Castle. (Of course!)
