Hordesman's puristic figs
Everyone has been into purist minifig making lately, so I thought to try it myself. So here is a Hussar, or "winged lancer", it is not exactly 100% Castle, but I love Hussars since they look cool.

I thought to use the feathers from american native sets, but I didnt have enough of them, so skelly arms and white hands were used instead.
Also, the shield was not added for accuracy (they don't have shields) but because I really got more shields for blackfalcons then blackfalcons, and he looked like he was missing something without it. Its a fantasy version of the hussar afterall.

Cool! That's an interesting solution for the "wings."
I've seen that torso in a couple MOC minifigs recently, but can't recall what set it's from... Care to enlighten me?

Nifty neet-o. It really does look like one, perdy cool. I like the addition of the shield too, and the white hands work well behind him. Maybe i should try to find one of those torsos, it could be usefull for sure.

Inspired by mijasper's Elizabeth I fig, I wanted to try to use the Aquazone visor for something... Savage. I tried using various helmets to accompany it, but I found the worker helmet the most fitting.
Its a jaw helm!

I like how you used the visor a lot. The only thing I dont like is the construction helmet, maybey you could use a different one? Great idea though.

Re: .............................
I tried different helmets, and found none really fitting- a fireman helmet perhaps, but the colors doesnt fit... Perhaps I should get one of those silvery? The dark tide wrote:The only thing I dont like is the construction helmet, maybey you could use a different one? Great idea though.
I think the worker helmet looks rather okay though.

Cool fig. The Aquazone visor really gives it a cool effect (I can't exactly say what it is, though ). This might be fun to try....

This guy is very cool, I think the Native American head works well with the helmet and weapon. I like your Hussar too.

Learning French.
Say it "ESS-MICK-GIN-ISS", with a hard "G", as in "get".

I was wondering when someone would make Hussar.
BTW, did you ever consider using the wings from the Hippogriff (HP horse + hawk, creature).

No actually, then I would need to attach the wings somehow to the pants I think, and they would look too large... But perhaps I could hold them with clipper-pieces in a different way... It could be tried out later on.JPinoy wrote:BTW, did you ever consider using the wings from the Hippogriff (HP horse + hawk, creature).
Thanks for the idea!
Thanks people for the replies! I will post more figs whenever I invent something wierd.

Impressive winged fig. Reminds me of the Central European "winged lancers" from the 16-th and 17-th century. But as far as I know "hussars" were light cavalry armed with swords and the lancers on their behalf are called "uhlans".

Like the new fig too! By turning the visor around, you've used mijasper's technique in an interesting new way.
I might have chosen black instead of red, but I can't recall at the moment if the corresponding helmet would also be available in black...

Hussars = Winged Lancers.ragnarok wrote:Impressive winged fig. Reminds me of the Central European "winged lancers" from the 16-th and 17-th century. But as far as I know "hussars" were light cavalry armed with swords and the lancers on their behalf are called "uhlans".
Hussars has been called Winged Lancers later on since "Hussars" became the title for lots of types of cavalry, but Hussars was originally the title for the winged lancers.
The funny thing with hussars is that their captains are allways depicted with turbans (or atleast, turban-like headgear) and no wings... I gotta make one of those guys.
The visor for jawhelmet guy existed in black- for the aquanaut commander, but I never owned the fig... I do have a black workerhelmet somewere... Hmmm.... Bricklink...
