Hello,
Encouraged by Bruce N H, I present my first MOC after the long dark age, built some time ago. The idea was to build the medieval version of Building Bonanza (4886) set, but building finally ended to be what it is - King's Summer Residence
A small, one-storeyed building with an attic, opens to give access to the interior. Has a hidden emergency exit door, a gate and a fence. Communication with the kingdom's capital is done via pigeon mail.
Enjoy,
Hippotam

I can definitely see the resemblence to 4886. It's a great idea, and executed well. I like how the fence stays on the same level despite the changing terrain heights.

Well, I'm glad Bruce was able to convince you to show us all! A nice MOC, implemented well. It certainly feels like a royal get-away, while remaining simplistic and quaint.
The long sides (I guess actually the front and back) are nice, with all the arches, and the ends are neat with all the angles. I also like the pigeon-coop hanging off the end like it does. The only thing I would change about it is removing the step to the 'secret' exit, I think they kinda give it away.
Thanks again for sharing, it's a good MOC.

Very nice. I, like the others, think that maybe you shouldn't have put steps to the secret entrance. I like the colors and the architecture. The tree and the landscaping are cool too, and I really like the fence. Inside the house, the angled bed looks really good, and I like the raised floors. May I ask what the forestman and the others were doing in the king's house? And, is he (the king) reaching for his sword, or did his arm just happen to be posed that (cool) way?

P.S. Is my post (a little) hard to read with all the (parentheses)?

Yes, I agree. Silly, I just did not realized it till now Ooopssmcginnis wrote:Very nice. I, like the others, think that maybe you shouldn't have put steps to the secret entrance.
This MOC, apart from beeing the building excercise, was also my training ground in taking the pictures of the bricks. Some of the pictures that involve formestmen are a part of never completed foto-story about the king reclaiming back his residence from some forest scumsmcginnis wrote:May I ask what the forestman and the others were doing in the king's house? Thank you for your comments!

Hey Hippotam,
Glad to see you post this. As I mentioned in my PM, I really like some of the details like the birds, and also the way you used different combinations of slopes. Amazing that this was your first MOC after your dark ages.
BTW, I'm changing your picture to a thumbnail, as we ask people to not post pictures larger than 400 pixels in the forums.
