Introduction+First Moc

Post by LegoAddict »

Hi all,

Before I get too involved in the forum i just want to say a quick hello and tell you a few things about myself. My name is Kyle, and im 16 year olds.(17 on april 20th) I live in BC Canada, And am a HUGE lego fan. I got my first set around the age of 5, and have loved it ever since. When i was younger(mid 90's) I got a few castle sets, but I thought they were "boring" so i never really built them, just used the parts for other stuff. Anyways when I was about 10 I went into my "dark ages". I finally came out of my dark ages when i was 14, when in my social studies class, we had to make a castle that was as realalistic as possible. Right away the light went off in my head and I dug up all my lego and started building. It turned out to be pretty massive and it was quite a problem getting it to school((because) I had to walk about 30 minutes to get there) Anyways It turned out to be the talk of the class, I had about 20 minifigs, and a moat and drawbridge and everything. When I look back on it now it wasnt really that great lol, it had alot of diffrent coloured pieces in the castle walls and didnt really look to medival. Ever since Then I had an intrest in castle lego and medival lego, but I never built anything..just Imagined building something lol..so I went into another "dark age". I woke up out of this dark age, when my Girlfriend and I of a year and a half broke up, I decided lego would take my mind of her. So I built a decent city just off the top of my head(it was medival of course) I thought it was pretty good..untill I found sites like brickshelf, and this site. I realized mine stunk, so I tore all the buildings down and started again. I have alot in Production, but as of right now the building posted here is the only thing 100% done. I finally worked up the guts to post it, so any reviews on my first MOC would be great.Hope I didnt write too much lol, I plan to be here for awhile, so Ill talk to you later :D

Kyle

Quick description of the building:

Its A medium size tudor style house, being guarded. There is no interior, but one of the other buildings im working on will have interior.(The pictures are Kinda dark, because the flash on my cam sucks, the pics of my next moc will be better.)

Hey Kyle,

This is really good for a first MOC! I have yet to try a tudor-style building, so you've already beaten someone here to it. :) I like the choice of colors.

Welcome to CC!

Hi Kyle
That's a really cool moc. I like the novel use of a fence for the window (plus what is the upstairs front window made out of?).

I finally worked up the guts to post it
There was no need to worry - this could easily pass for a medieaval house of an experienced builder.

Hope to see some more mocs in the future, and hope you settle down here - everyone's real nice.

Well Im pretty sure its megablocks  . I know that clone bricks are kinda frowned upon around here, BUT I thought it was lego untill I realized Ive never seen it in any lego set. I have about 10 Lego windows that perhaps I will put in place of that window someday.
Hope to see some more mocs in the future
I have 4 other MOCs that are still in progress, Also I have a huge scenery Ive been working on, with a gatehouse in the front. I just have to finsh some stuff up and make some better tudor style houses/shops.

Here is a little overview of what I got going on.

I like it! For some reason it feels fresh--it's either the colors or the way everything is laid out, I can't quite decide.

First of all, welcome! I'm glad you've found us, and you need not ever worry about the 'quality' of a work you are presenting here, because everyone is always pretty positive about it.

That is a great first MOC!!! The design is well thought out and it has some really nice touches. I like the flower deal, and the vine/plant on the lower part. I also really like the chimney (esp. the top).
Wowsers! That is a great layout. The yellow wall is built very well and the paths follow it nicely. The graves out front are an inspired touch. Overall, tons of good details and a superb MOC setup.

I hope you have a great time here at CC and will continue to share your MOCs.

Hey Kyle,

Welcome to CC! Looks like you already have an impressive set of MOCs. I particularly like the yellow city gate (very old school, harking back to the first castle).

That was my intention :D . I have enough of the new grey bricks to build the same wall in grey, but it was kinda my tribute to the ever so famous "yellow castle". As for the MOCs, that are on the scenery..They are no longer there they were just quick things I did and took apart. I have a total of 3 completed tudor style buildings(one of which has an interior) Ive been wanting to post pics, but my dad has been working all weekend and he hasnt had a chance to upload the pics onto his computer. Hopefully I will be able to post them tonight :D . Once again thank you for all the nice comments, I have a feeling im going to be around this site for awhile because the people here are simply great!

Welcome Kyle!

Good to have you as a member. I enjoyed looking at your MOCs, especially the yellow gate and the red tudor house. Thanks for sharing them. This is a friendly site (unlike some others), but it still takes a bit of courage to step up and display your efforts.

I love BC! I try to get up to Whistler each year for some skiing, but with the young kids, I haven't made it many times in the last 7 years.

Keep building!

Yah, BC is a great place. I was Origionally from Ontario, But My family moved out here in about 1993. I live about an hour from whistler and managed to get up there once to snowboard, back in March. You should make an attempt to get back out here before the 2010 Olympics :P .

Hmmm... It's pretty basic, but a good start. I wanna see more MOCs! (Not that I'm any expert).

Great job! Welcome!

Hi Kyle, welcome to CC! Great first MOC, much better than my first attempt at a tudor house. The ivy is a nice touch and I like the downstairs window too.

Keep it up!

Happy Birthday Kyle! :)
I really like that tudor house. Even thought it's simple, it looks very nice and LEGOish, if you know what I mean. The different grey colours give the feeling of stone on the bottom story. Good job on this MOC!
