Trebuchet

Post by Slobey »

I thought I'd be brave and publish my first moc. It's a trebuchet inspired by the thread Anthony created in Medieval life: viewtopic.php?t=6908

This is my idea of what a trebuchet is, sorry about the flash but the weather has been too bad to photograph outside.

Looking good! Impressively massive and well built too. The flash doesn't detract at all. How well does it fire?

You did it just fine.

PS. That faction must like seige weapons, Nathan used them for his catapult too...

It's a bit hit and miss in the firing department, but i got it to fire a hollow rock about 3 feet, which my shadow knights weren't too happy about :D

I think they suit seige weapons because they're heraldry is so hard to get a hold of. I'm a huge fan of Nathan's catapult too

This is pretty cool. What I like most about it is the single color. Most of the LEGO trebuchets I've seen are mulitcolored things with a lot of technic beams and such. This one is (mainly) brown, and made out of solid bricks (bricks without holes in them)! The 'Durmstrang-ies(:?) look quite good with the viking torsos and the trebuchet. That Shadow Knight castle looks pretty cool too.

Impressive. I like the design and the color. The flags are a nice touch, and I'm really starting to like the Durmstrang faction.

The design is a little bit wonky, but it's excellent overall. I like how real it looks - most Lego trebuchets are big, black, technic monsters that look a bit out of place in the colourful, smooth Castle world. But this one is wood-brown and uses lots of System pieces - very refreshing, and the construction looks great. Also, I love the heraldry of the soldiers manning it, and how busy they seem. Brilliant work!

I agree, nice faction and nice looking trebuchet. It's also nice to hear it fires, I was wondering about that.

I'm thinking there might be some way to make it smoother. I agreee that it might be a little, er..."wonky." I don't know how this can be fixed, but anyway. Nice work, and I'll be looking forward to more Durmstrangian catapult-type engines.

Oh, and might I suggest you make the pictures a little smaller next time.

Hey Slobey,

Nice trebuchet. I also think the flags are a great touch.

Yes, but their heraldry was the same as this treb, as can be seen in this pic.

Very nice! i made one about that size that could shoot five meters, the only problem with it is that it was made out of red bricks. I like how yours uses a weight to launch the procectiles.
