New small castle after a long wile...

Post by Ristridin »

Hey all,

If been off for a pretty long time, almost a short dark age  ... I spent my time more with model making and drawing. But than I wanted to make a Lego Moc of one of my drawings, and this is it :P

This is pretty cool. I really like it, especially all the stepping of walls. The use of the Dragon Master printed arches is quite good, I hardly ever see those used in MOCs. The painter is a pretty neat idea too. That first picture, it's awesome, 'cept for it's bmp-y-ness. Neat tree. One question, is it supposed to be a castle or a manor house?; 'cause it looks more like the latter, but I thought 'burg' meant castle. :?

Another thing, could you possibly upload the drawing(s) to that folder, or maj? I would really like to see them, and compare them to the MOC.

Say it "ESS-MICK-GIN-ISS", with a hard "G", as in "get".

Very good! :) I especially like the tree that grows against the house.

For the record: Post #100! :D

First of all, thanx :D
One question, is it supposed to be a castle or a manor house?; 'cause it looks more like the latter, but I thought 'burg' meant castle.
Well, "Burg" means castle or keep, but this one is isn`t really a castle meant for defense, it is more a rich-guy house, so a bit a combination between castle and manor house. When I looked at the castle when it was finished, I thought of some German castles I have seen, many had the timbered constructing (if they call it so in English), that`s why: "burg".
could you possibly upload the drawing(s) to that folder, or maj? I would really like to see them, and compare them to the MOC.
I'll do that soon:P.

Thanks,
Michiel

A very well-made MOC. I like the yellow and red, gives it a classic type feel. One of my very foavorite details is the painter outside! I also like that the walls are not jsut straight, but have recessed parts and "curving" parts to them. Thanks for sharing, it's a first-class model.

Nice job. I like the individual feel you stamp on this MOC and the various heights balance each other nicely. The tudor is also different from the run of the mill but suits the look of a later 'castle' made almost entirely for comfort.

Thanks for sharing and God Bless,

Nathan

Nicely done. I think its awesome that you can express your imagination threw drawing and threw Lego.
The use of the Dragon Master printed arches is quite good, I hardly ever see those used in MOCs.
Not to sound like a echo, but that is very nice idea. The overall look is great. Keep it up!

I like the shape of your MOC--it's not what I'm used to seeing. This pic is my favorite; it adds an extra towering feel.

I really like the different pieces and parts of this house that result in all of the unusual shapes, and different levels. This feels comfortable and realistic to me, unlike many of the simple rectangle houses that we've all probably built at least one of. I'm glad you decided to make a MOC out of this drawing, perhaps you should do some of the others as well!

I wouldnt consider this a small MOC, I mean it isnt massive but its a good sized MOC. I like the roof and the manor stile pieces.

Excellent job and welcome back! This MOC is quite impressive. Normally black MOCs swallow the details but in this case it makes your yellow highlights really jump out. Great landscaping too!

It's nice how LEGO can easily tie in with our other hobbies... modeling, drawing, writing, etc..etc...etc...

I like this MOC very much - it's a solid-looking creation with a very "system" feel to me, although LEGO would never actually put out a model this detailed. I like the way you made the small chambers climbing up, with one breaking through the rest to form a "top" to the structure. Really well built.

One thing you have to remember that a lot of later castles were just glorified houses, and this gets the feeling across nicely. All this in your first MOC (in a while?)!?! It looks great!

Heh, great MoC - love the landscaping and the details - and welcome back! It's good to see that your skills have not rusted in your time away.
