Pagoda in the Silent Lake

Post by Scnicker »

Hello there everyone,

A while ago, I've built a Japanese Village. Some of you may remember it (Here it is). Anyways, one day I was sitting on the couch and suddenly decided to build something Japanese again. This took a while to build, and I'm extremely glad with the final result. I can clearly say the pictures do no justice to it. Anyways the final result came up as this(nevermind my cat playing around :) ):

Deeplinks(goes until 16):

And my Brickshelf folder:

Please do comment on it. Comments and constructive criticism is welcomed as always.

I like it a lot. The building is very nice, as is the 'outdoor' feel of the whole MOC. It really seems like a garden. The only thing I don't like is that the cliffs and rocks seem too multicolored, with the brown, and the dark orange. But, still very nice.

Very nice! Your landscaping looks good and I like how you set the whole thing on an island.

I also like how you put it on an island. Good landscaping, too. I think this is my favorite of your MOCs. :)

Good lanscaping and structure. You definitly have a sense of serenity in this MOC, the beacon rock is a nice addition to, especially with the trans blue plates. Any details on the inside?

Cheers.

Great MOC, Scnicker! The foliage, island, and characters are all very good, as well as the design of the roof. :)

This is done quite well... it really looks like an asian building. I do wonder how sturdy it is with only the four skinny red posts holding it up(?), but the overall look and feel is very nice, and you've mixed in the surronding nature with it quite well.

Oh, and nice cat too~

-Thank you. I think it looks more realistic when there is a varity of colors in landscaping. That's why I added the orange pieces there. As you can notice, there are only a fex 1x4 orange plates that are used.

-Yeah, I love buildings that are built on an islands. They just seem more mystical. Thanks.

-This is my 2nd favourite from my MOCs. I think my best one is Aslingarde Keep :).

-Thanks. Actually the things on that beacon are blue gems, not trans blue plates. Also as many of you may know, I hate interior building so no, there're no inside pictures :).

-Oh I'm glad you like it. I wasn't too sure about the roof design, but I'm relieved now.

-Haha, well there are 2 inside columns that are supporting the structure, but apart from that, it's a bit flimsy :P. Also cat's name is Casper :P.

Anyways, thank you all for the posts. Keep them coming.

I´ll join the chorus and say that this is a really good-looking MOC! ;) But I agree that it looks a bit flimsy...

And Casper looks really cute :P

The landscaping is great, and I love the way you raised the whole structure up on stilts (though that's not especially "Japanese").

Nice job -- can't wait to see more Asian-themed MOCs from you.

This makes me even more disgusted that I never bought any Ninja sets. I agree that the whole setting seems very tranquil.

I like all the little details. the stuff piled on the dock, the beacon lantern (who changes the candle?) the 1x1 rounds and 1x4x1 fences hanging from the ceiling. I've always liked those fish used architecturally, too. The viking horns I'm not too sure about, but they don't look out of place.

I wish more people built japanese stuff as nice as this.

Hey Scnicker,

It looks great. I really like Asian-themed castle MOCs. My favorite detail is probably the little additional island off to the side, and also those 1x1 rounds hanging from the ceiling.

Thanks everyone. Your comments are what keep me building :). I wasn't too sure about continuing with Asian MOCs ,but now I've decided to build a few more :). I've always found Asian architecture more interesting and colorful compared to the middle-age European architecture. Eventhough I enjoy building castle and so forth, building Asian stuff is a whole different experience :). Anyways, those 1x1 round bricks hanging from the ceiling were a last minute addition to the moc. Without those, the building's sides seemed to empty. They also look pretty good with the posts that support the building. Thanks again.
