Ninja Training Camp

Post by Sir Nelson »

An old tree near the river serves as a secret training ground for this Ninja clan.

Sir Nelson, this is a wonderful MOC! I love the lantern, boat, figs, and the tree especially. I'd give to live in a place like that! :)

This looks great by itself, but it would fit wonderfully in a Goldmanesque complex...

I like it. Very serene, yet it actually does look like it's hiding something. Good idea, good execution.

I think you did a great job on the overall shape of the tree. That door piece works really well for this, and the posing of the figs is nicely done.

Ahh, the long awaited white hair MOC. :) And its another great Nelson creation! The tree looks wonderful, it reminds me of a bonsai tree, which I'm sure was your intent. The fig posing is very good, I like the three ninjas getting dumped in the water a lot. Excellent job!

SWEET! The ninja series has always been my favorite. I like the boat and the bamboo the best. AWSOME MOC!

Very cool, Nelson! The tree is really believable as one of those old, sacred trees at the center of a bamboo grove, and the fact that it's actually a ninja hideout only adds to its coolness.

The mix of tan among the bamboo is also a nice touch, and I like that you didn't default to the lantern that was so prevalent in official Ninjas sets.

Finally, the posing of the minifigs is great, but I kind of expect that from your MOCs at this point. :D

Hey, this is fantastic. I like this old tree, it looks like it has 1000 years.
Bamboo is also a nice idea. And the lantern is cute :D .

This is really great. The MOC it self is very beautiful, both inside and out, and I like how it isn't static. By this I mean that all pictures with figs in them aren't the same posing, it's like a story. The lantern and the bamboo are very good, and the tree kinda looks like a miniature giant bonsai (does that make sense? :?). The funniest part is that the 'young' master has the white hair, but he isn't nearly as old as the old master.

Hey Nelson,

This is such a fun MOC - a ninja take on all those classic forestmen tree hideout sets. I really like your boat design (though the new brown click hinge kinda distracts). The action scenes are all really well done--my favorite is the old master going in and trouncing all the trainees.

The Tree looks great! I love the action you have going on with the training. Very well done.

I love how you didn't build your tree going strait up, the lean is very pleasing and you still managed an interior that a fig could navigate using the ladder. The bamboo around is also nicely done. I really like the ninja story line, too.

Thanks for the comments! I've had this idea for quite awhile. I wanted the tree to be strong, albeit hollow, and shaped by time. It would have stood against the elements for many, many years.

The 'masters' names are taken from some old GI JOE comics. :) Ninjas make for great action scenes/poses.

I guess no one saw THIS Ninja then? You gotta keep your eyes peeled for him...

I wne tback and looked at all the pictures and I noticed something. Is the ladder in this http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1796546 picture made by lego? I have seen a white version of it before.
